So you also back the assumption that if not first aided then you bleed to death? That is not written in the rules. Its not even implied.
Editted: For respect.

There is an awful lot of “In teonn” in this thread and not alot of “in larps”
Can somone please decide on if this is supposed to be a Teonn related thread or if it is a General thread.

Issues such as the magic point-and-click abilities are brought to light because of examples from other Larps. The reason this thread was moved here because the discussion was about Magic Point-and-Click abilities and whether they are a good/bad thing in Larps, with Teonn as an example for discussion.
Which other discussions have been moved from the main Teonn forum? It’d be nice to be able to find them and see what people are thinking about General larps using Teonn as a specific.
Thank you for clearing that up Nikki.
For what it’s worth, I interpreted the rule exactly the same way Adam did. When I had the smack down put on me on the ‘road of pain’ I insisted on being first aided before people moved me. The way I read it, I’d die otherwise. I just couldn’t see any other reason to do first aid…
I guess you can read it any number of ways. I look at this as an example of “the exception that proves the rule”. The first aid skill says that it can be used to stabilise people to allow them to be moved, implying without the skill they cannot be moved in a stable condition. If this isn’t the reason for the skill, what is?
Anyway, one further thing for Nikki, Muppet, Tigger and Matt. To me, this just needs a little tuning. Teonn is big and fun and has lots of cool stuff going for it. Please don’t take this conversation as a personal criticism or attack on you in any way. In any undertaking of this size, there will be bits that don’t work perfectly first time and it is human nature to criticise it afterwards.
I’m loving the Teonn games, and I’m hoping you’re all enjoying running them.
What you say is true Derek, it is a fun game and fine tuning is all that is required. Everyone needs to sympathetic to that fact. And also to the idea that larp (including Teonn) is by and large a volunteer run event. Its not a business, its not for profit, hell the personal input GM’s put into a weekend is worth far more than twice what we players pay. What we pay is nothing in comparison, in many ways its practically free. And what we get by and large is well worth it.
Damn you can talk a lot in one day O.o Had to read 3 entire pages!
Anyway, Sounds like we need a bug-report thingy (Or well, maybe not need…)
For example, a single thread, where only two things should be posted: A report of what is wrong/overpowered, perhaps including a suggestion on how to fix it, and the second thing being a factual response on why that is the so, and perhaps an explanation that it isn’t overpowered. If it is overpowered, only the Report should be posted, and maybe the GM saying they’re on it, or don’t deem it important enough =D.
Sounds like an idea? Or no?

I think that we can probably leave this with the GMs. They’re intelligent, capable people well able to decide how to deal with this.
Thing is by my calculations elementals make up approx 1/3 the PCs. And they all seem to be backing each other. “No they’re not too powerful.”
But they clearly are on a different power level to the other racial powers. If we get many more elementals then they’ll be in the majority. At that point who are we fixing the game for. The minority? Seems to me if this is going to be fixed its got to be fast. And before people say I’m being paranoid I urge them to look into the last 10 new characters. See what the ratio of elementals is.
You make one option clearly more powerful and more and more people will take it until they’re a majority.
I accept that some people may play that way, but not everybody. I pick the one that sounds interesting and fun (and has the best costuming options, because for me that is fun) not the munchkin that can overpower the game.
Perhaps the problem is that the elementals are too interesting. How’re you gonna fix that one?
One thing about powerful abilities though, they make your brain work (If you get out there alive that is) and make you think of new strategies on how to tackle them. But that’s exactly the thing, you need to come out of there alive =S.

Dylan, the Game Masters have acknowledged that there is an issue. You have made your point. Stop pressing the matter, please.
.
The guard will hear youre request.
Thankfully I aint part of the guard so I think escaping 6 hours of guard duty sounds great
Also is there really 20+ elementals in Teonn? Wow. We must be breeding. Zephyr dear, what have you been up to?
6 hours of Gate duty a day required of all guard members.
This was before the last post but I forgot to include the quote it was relevant to.
P.S. I know a few council members. Wonder if I can make this happen?

I’m one of the the “last 10 new characters” (or close to it). I chose an elemental for several reasons, NONE of which were the powers they received. I was looking, as part of my first weekend long larp, with people I did not know, to immediately get with a group of characters, to throw me straight into the action. My options were Pirates, Grey Cloaks, or Elemental Guard. There are (IMO) already too many pirates. It was a toss-up between Grey Cloaks and Guard, and the Guard seemed (correctly, as it turns out) to be the one that would get into the most trouble, the most quickly.
My character, and since it’s relevant to this discussion, the powers of my character, could conceivably be from any race; and in fact would fit a Morkhin probably better.
I certainly did not choose Elemental because of the powers, or the power level, and I resent the implication of your raging generalisation that I did. Make your points without resorting to such generalisations in future, please, unless you have proof of what you’re talking about. (Hint: You Don’t)
Viperion
I appologise you seem to take what I said personaly. But still the numbers are very statisticaly improbable unless there is a reason more people are choosing elementals. Now everyone claims they just want to be elemental because of there concept.
I don’t know about anybody else and I am still new at this, but I come up with a character then look at the setting/rules and see what fits to what I’ve come up with.
You are talking about my character and you quite clearly inferred that he’s an Elemental because it’s the most powerful race. You are wrong on that point. He’s an Elemental because it DID fit my concept.
Also I am not “everyone”, but I am the only person that’s brought you up on this point - perhaps it is actually possible that being an elemental DOES fit their concept? They are the most malleable of races - how many Lightning Morkhin could there be? Rust Elves?
They’re not statisically improbable at all. As Kara said, elementals (to Kara, and me, and probably most other people) are the most INTERESTING and therefore the most represented.

6 hours? Good luck with your elemental guard, Cormere, I’m out of here! 1 hour of actual guard duty damn near drove me crazy.
At least you’d guarentee a guard without fire elementals… and possibly without fighters.
But, don’t need to be in the guard to be an elemental.
