Magic -- "Point and Click"

See, this is why racism is a problem.
One person says a generalized thing about a race.
Member of the race takes it personal
One person defends his/her argument
Member feels even more offended etc.

I believe AbCcCoxDsEHSoeVVa (Why didn’t I copy paste that name?) shouldn’t generalize too much, but I also think Viperion shouldn’t take it too personal.
We don’t want an OOC racism discussion about a fictional race, now do we? =D.
(Please don’t hate me for this)

And before people say I’m being paranoid I urge them to look into the last 10 new characters. See what the ratio of elementals is.

You make one option clearly more powerful and more and more people will take it until they’re a majority.
I am actually offended by this.

It’s easier to choose not to be offended by general ignorance. But, what he said. I don’t even care about racial powers. Elementals just seemed more interesting.

Funny thing is more than one larp has gone out of its way to generate this kind of racism.

Roleplaying value.

Truth is, I don’t understand why people would choose to play a character for their rules bonuses. That just seems incredibly dull. I get more fun from completely screwing my character than I do from supporting them. :smiling_imp:

I don’t have the exact numbers so I can’t do a statistical analysis but I am sure that the ratio of people who made elementals prior to the first game is much lower than the numbers being made now and its a curve. The ratio is going up. Is there suddenly much more RP reason to create an elemental or could it be possible that the crazy powers they’re getting is influencing this.

Something changed. Offering a static reason can not explain this. That being said I’ve had enough of this conversation. You know my opinion. You know the data. Draw your own conclusions. (And possibly check how many new elementals are at the next weekend game)

The philosopher in me must point out that number one rule of statistics is Correlation is not Causation. Furthermore, using undefined statistics is simply invalid.

The mathematician in me responds 54% of statistics are made up on the spot.

I didn’t offer any statistics and explained why. So your post doesn’t really have a point except to agree with mine.

Well the point about the guard being a good starting point for new unconnected players is a good one. It is easy to join as an unconnected PC. Before Teonn started players came up with in character links, but now that the game has started that is a little more difficult. In character links make other character concepts more interesting.

Also, there is now visual evidence that the costuming is awesome, and some people love costuming.

I don’t know. I would have always played an elemental, and I had no idea what the racial powers were before I chose to play one (and really couldn’t have cared less). Is there anyone who chose to play an elemental because of the abilities who wants to speak up?

Thanks to all the people who have posted constructively in this thread. I knew this was going to be a hot topic when I started it, but it was an area I felt should be talked about. I don’t think we’re going to cover any new ground here, so I’m going to use one of my special powers* and lock this topic

Adam and Zara - thanks for mostly keeping out of the minute dissection of the last few moments of your characters lives, that must have been difficult.
Nikki, Muppet, Tigger and Matt - hopefully there is something in here that makes sense to you guys.

Everyone else - maybe we can go do some more posts in the how awesome the game was thread…?

*special power #1 – I can point and click at threads to end their lives. But that’s nothing compared to special power #2 :smiling_imp:
