Games for Chimera 2012

See this I would play, a game centred around a tournament, but still has characters with cool interations and plots. I think there’s lots of scope for a game set at a tournament, but I would understand if those running it would want it combat heavey/RP light. But i could definately see both a Combat and RP heavy game.

Actually, I think that may take more than 3 hours to do it justice.
Derek, would you object if I borrowed your idea for a tournament game and I ran one as a one-off at some stage next year?

Not at all. Just send me an invitation

I may be working up something film noirish.

May.

Who else would find an Order of the Stick game interesting?

Hel, even watching that one would be funny

I’ve had some random ideas for games that may pique someone’s interest.

  • A video game larp, parodying all the best and worst things about computer/console gaming over the last three decades. It would be hilarious to include classic characters such as the main guy from Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem, Mario, Guybrush Threepwood, the Prince of Persia and for bonus weird points, maybe things like Pac Man. The pixellated heroes find themselves manifested in the forests of Motu Moana after the coalition of villains expunged them from the digital world. With the assistance of some confused gamers, they must find their way to the digital world.

  • Captain Planet larp. I’ve been suggesting this forever.

If you want any help with that I’d be more then willing to lend a hand or two.

Only if everyone has to be ‘invisible’ at some point

And since the weekend, Dave and I have been having many ideas. There’s got to be at least 4 or 5 now. We’ll only be bringing one to Chimera I think. Unless the people demand more (we’re a sucker for people asking nicely).

OotS would be FANTASTIC!!

Has anyone done an early 1960s Austin Powersesque Larp? Maybe with a bunch of Austin Clones so no one person is central to everything? The dress ups would be cool, plus Dr Evil, Mini Me etc…

Tigger did, at Chimera 2009. It wasn’t specifically a Austin Powers one, it was parodying the early 60s spy genre. It had characters like Dr. Nefarious. It was called “Spy Hard” and he’s planning to rerun it…

I would recommend you play it if you haven’t. It was a blast, baby.

Sounds like fun and my era…

I will keep an eye out for it.

Too late now but did anyone consider a Rugby World Cup intrigue larp for 2011?

Tanya

to jump on the topical bandwagon that is?

I really want to play in this if it gets rerun! Missed it the first time around, and I picked up a really cute 60s fur trimmed jacket from Savemart last week. Couldn’t resist adding it to the costume wardrobe even though I had no immediate use for it.

After seeing the holograms at Gordian Knot I’m thinking of writing a Red Dwarf larp. I have about 8 solid character ideas in mind so sure I can get it over 10 with a bit more thought.

I loved Red Dwarf

ME!!!

I would have boycotted and staged a protest! Its bad enough its rammed down my throat on every tv channel and every radio station and at work.
I watch channel 4 the home of not rugby!

(please take this as a light hearted jab at the fact I dispise the Rugby world cup and its overbearing pressure to be apart of it, so that you don’t get branded “Non-NZ” by openly admitting you couldn’t give two whoops about it)

How about a Quidditch World Cup larp then? Wizards gather in New Zealand for the greatest, most annoying, sporting event the wizarding world has ever seen…

EDIT: Or possibly more amusing, an unnamed “Great Sporting Event!” where the sport is never defined.
