Flagship LARP 2011?

I’m disappointed more people haven’t latched onto this idea.

Not so much a fan of the Romans, though… Greek might be okay with deities etc thrown into the mix, but even then I’m still not sure. A big Pirate LARP could work well, though!

EDIT: Also, I’m throwing in my vote for NOT having Slave Leia Tigger. Please, oh god, no.

I agree and it also goes with my other comments too…

ok if anyones seen saw 2 i reckon something like that would be epic

how rude!

Slave Leia Tigger is filed for me under the same moritorium as anyone dressing as Jake Gyllenhaal in the Prince of Persia for the upcoming Kapcon LARP.

I’m getting really tempted to post the photos of that time Tigger played a Handmaiden of Thor at a larp, and wore a chainmail bikini… :smiling_imp:

I think that the indiscretions of the past should not continuously haunt the indiscreet.

He’s the one wanting to turn up in a Leia costume…

I’ll put my hand up for that. Do i get extra powers?
Well someone has to top my (lack of) costume.
An addendum- I’m not sure this is a road we want to start going down. Otherwise the 2012 Chimera Flagship will be set in a nudist colony, just so everyone has a chance at best costume…

Sci fi/fae Murder mystery at a nudist colony would be fun…
I personally like the idea of a space opera, it would be a good departure from the trend of the flagship being historical thus far.

i agree, we have been doing mostly historical… sci-fi/modern would be a nice change… maybe a continueation of the superhero one? space opera sounds good too, or the academy awards after party… alternate reality? the monster’s ball perhaps? oh sh*t, the mayans were right/desaster larp?

… my head is just full of bad ideas now… like maybe a 100 people - game of human robo-rally… or time travel - bill and ted style… or a matrix game… spy vs spy type thing… something set in neil gaiman’s neverwhere/mirrormask worlds… politics in heaven (a meeting with representitives of hell and space aliens (death to lots of fluffy pillows for clouds) )…

this is why i shouldnt be allowed to come up with ideas… :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha, yes… let’s peer-pressure Blair and Kerry into writing and running TJS 2.0: Crisis Aboard the Ship of Flags.

I like the idea of the Space Opera myself. Tho the Roman/Greek idea is also tempting especially if it includes both cultures you could have it set at about 460BC with the greeks being the major culture but with the romans on the rise?

Sounds like The Barbie Murders.

But not in Auckland during August - brrrr.

What about an animal-themed larp? From things like The Wind in the Willows and Watership Down, and those Redwall (Redfall? Mice, anyway) books. You could give guidelines for costuming to wear people clothes but use strategic makeup and prosthetics to give the ‘feel’ of the animal. (There was a live action tv special of Wind in the Willows that used that shtick, and it looked really good.)

Now that’s an interesting idea, and even if its not used for the main larp, someone should grab it for a smaller game.

What about a fairy tale larp? Characters and themes from the stories of people like the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Anderson. It has scope for both levity and drama, and capacity for classical interpretations and re-interpretations (in the footsteps of things like Wicked, Shrek)

You mean like a LARP version of ‘Into the Woods’? I was actually pondering that idea myself.

If not for the Flagship LARP, Anna, maybe you and I could have a go at writing it anyway?
