I am a notorious last minute person, and so, am panicking somewhat regarding costumes, especially since I’m diving in headfirst to every single round.
Problems I’m having are period specific:
For Nexus, I’m looking at some way to appear from the 40s, “1940’s scientific/academic wear” to be specific to my character. I’m especially not wanting to appear like a 1940’s version of Valour, though that would be amusing.
For Refuge, I’m not sure how to pull off being a seasoned traveller who’s sort-of well off, but not really.
Any advice on where to look for both research and purchasing/loaning? I’m on the ye olde student budget too…

I just saw a rack of “mexican ponchos” at Look Smart Store, in Auckland on Victoria St, near the big Whitcouls on Queen Street. I think they were about $10-$15 each. Also the place makes me wish I hadn’t already bought a wig…too many shiny fun things to look at in there, and costumy things too.
Costumes? We need COSTUMES? What?!? For every game?
Ok, just kidding, but srsly, I’m thinking I’ll just pack my entire larp wardrobe and sort it out when I get there. That sounds like it will work, aye? No?
I’m in so much trouble… 
I’m mostly sorted for every game - went op shopping and that was useful. Got some overalls for the boy for Discarded as well.
Jared - could I possibly borrow that green tentacle for him?
The only think I’m really missing isn’t even a costume thing at all - I realised I’ve left my sleeping bag in another city! Anyone have a spare by any chance?
ETA: I also have a Victorian-y hat is anyone wants to borrow it. It’s blue straw, with a white sash thing around the crown (and fabric rosettes). Bit of a cross between Victorian and modern race day hats.
So not going to Chimera, I’m not panicking…
However I just made these for a party tonight, if anyone from Wellington wants to borrow them for Refuge (or other games), feel free to grab them in the week, just PM me.

Ha! Finished the bosom-nightie petticoat, and got the bodice of the Regency gown done. Nothing left there but making the skirt and clipping. Yay!
One to go, plus small change if I have time. Whew.
