I’m sorted for everything.
Except the flagship… And I don’t think I have free time to get costume sorted until after Chimera…
I have costume sorted for every single game I’m attending. I think the only way I could be more sorted is if I had my character sheets to help make the costumes more specific.
I’m very unsorted, will be relying on the kindness of the gear boxes in some cases and the game runners in others, to supplement my own meagre supply of non-medieval costume.
But even so there are a couple of items I still really need to acquire - anyone know a good place to get a second-hand cowboy-style coat?
I’m panicking about getting kit together. Not for myself- I’ve only got one game where I could do with a couple of extra bits, and Paperbag Princess should supply them. I should note that I am prepared only because I spent the weekend sewing like a woman possessed, and also my mother-in-law helped me (by helped, I mean she pinned and assembled and did fancy things with pattern pieces, and then told me where to sew. She wins at life).
No no. I’m panicking because I have yet to costume my husband for three of his games. I love him dearly, but when, with two weeks to go before Chimera and us being on holiday for a week beforehand, he tells me:
a) “By the way, I’m playing a monk” (in Jade Empire)
b) “I really want some bandoliers, guns, and a poncho” (for A Town Called Refuge)
That right there? That’s when I start to panic. It’s too late for Trade Me. I’m hoping the Costume Cave will provide.
You can get toy guns (some quite nice looking) from Toyworld. The one I went to was in Johnsonville, but I’m sure the others will provide.
Panicking? Erm, not quite, but I still have three accessory type things to start, and two costume items to finish. Maybe I should be panicking?!?! Anyone in Wellington want to have a sewing bee on the weekend?
Dollar shops have cheap guns, like 2 or 3 dollars. I got one the right size, and did a little dry brushing to make it look more metallic. Dollar shops are often full of surprisingly appropriate stuff for super cheap, but it’s a very random process and you might need to try a couple.
Shipped a big box of props for my games and some bits of costume up to Auckland yesterday. Have the rest of the stuff I need for costumes organised apart from 2 pieces I need to go pick up from people. But still need to put everything in a suitcase.
My main problem is my make up for the discarded, it’s a work in progress with lots of tweaking going on.
Me?.. only in 1 game and running one but hey should be fun, more worried I will forget things than anything else. 
Mostly sorted, and I’m down to the kibble: a headscarf and baldric for Dead Man’s Chest, better footwear for Quest in the Forest of Darkness and/or Refuge.
I’ve been Op shopping yesterday and today. Got all but some of my Refuge costume sorted.
Him? He’s got a wife to panic for him… Me? I’m not sorted yet because I’m stupid enough to think my gear for Refuge will be easy to sort and focus too much on findings bits for a certain hairy other person… grrr husband grrr… At least I’m only in Refuge and helping for Zane’s game…
Ha! Got another two things knocked off my list. (OK, they were the simple things, but lets not kibbitz.)
The discarded is my single biggest worry. I have some masks, one of which I want to cut up and use as prosthetics but am not really sure how and a bunch of others which I will bring with me for the last minute charlies. I also have a pair of size 7 discoloured white overalls if anyone would like them, they’ll fit someone of medium build of less than 5’10" (175cm). I have 2 green tentacles with disturbing pink suckers, one of which I’m using… so again the spare is on offer. I also have a burned and otherwise damaged lab coat which may also be of use to someone. I also have a few weapons I can lend to people, 2 staves, a longsword, 2 shortswords, a massive 2 handed axe and a few round shields. Just ask if you would like something.
'tis a very cool lab coat … it looks like proper science has been done by its occupant. Or on its occupant. Meh … big diff …

I’m definitely panicking for this. I always do before a LARP, and about fifty times more so now. But I seem to be a last minute maniac. And if this turns out anything like last year, I’ll get that final bit of costuming only five minutes before I leave. Fingers crossed here…
May Steph and I borrow the lab coat for our game?

hmmm, that smock… would you be able to send me a photo possibly? I may have a character which can use it…
Not panicking, seem to be making good time on my two gowns and Alan’s suit for Refuge (was so intimidated by the frock coat at the beginning but now it’s shaping up to be one of the coolest things I’ve ever made!), now just a Renaissance doublet and pants for him for Much Ado About Something. Should be able to get that done by this weekend.
All I’m mildly worried about is the stuff to be obtained instead of made. Little fiddly props and whatnot and the bits I’ve been told I can borrow from the gear library, because if for some reason there isn’t something there that works, by the time I"m in the country (Thursday) there will be very little time to find stuff elsewhere. Admittedly, never having seen the stash, I don’t know how likely or not that is to be the case.
