This is the definitive, scientific, work on the matter.

Cthulthu - because he never loses.

I’m with you. Cthulhu Fhtagn.
There’s just something terrifying about an insanity-spewing, uncaring, Elder God

Pirates and ninja are more funny now than scary

Edited for spelling

Ah see I have to go the Dragon. Pirate and Ninja’s will just end up worrying about each other. We all know how to defeat Zombie armies by now. I would consider Cthulhu but thing is first time you see him you are going insane so fear goes out the window and no longer scared just a gibering lunatic.

And you can totaly see a vampire coming…with there puffy hair and sparkly skin.

LOL

Something about sparkly vampires that just don’t make them scary. at all…

I pick Zombie Army. Despite being easily defeated they’re still scary. Especially when there’s an ARMY of them coming at ya.

I’ve not encountered Cthulhu so he’s instantly an unoption. And if he really is the scariest monster, I’m not about to go research him… lol

Zombie army is scariest, because it probably consists of your neighbours, friends, and family.

Cthulhu is easy so long as you have a ship handy to drive through him.

“But that don’ kilt 'im!”

If you !nuke! Big C, in 2 days you get a 30 story tall tentacled angry Elder god, who’s now radioactive to boot.

If you nuke the others, in 2 days you get apathetic radioactive dust.

I’m sure Mr Howard Phillips Lovecraft is turning happily in his grave at these results.

No, but it does make him a lot less scary.

Just surround R’lyeh with a permanent flotilla of boats ready to drive through anything large and tentacled that appears. It’s pest control, really.

For me it was a real close call between zombie army and Cthulhu. Having personally faced both a zombie army and Elder Gods (not Cthulhu personally, but I’ve had experience with Hastur and Shub-Niggurath. Hell, I’ve been Shub-Niggurath! :open_mouth: ) I have to say that while the zombie army was truly terrifying, Elder Gods are scarier.

Ok my breakdown.

Pirates - we have them. They live off the coast of Somalia. They are dumb arses.

Ninja - not so scary. Effective assassins maybe. In reality the worst ninja’s these days live on WOW servers, ripping off other players of hard earned loot.

Cthulhu - he mostly sleeps. And according to Munchkin, if he don’t kill you you probably go insane or become a cultist. So its not all bad. I think I could handle being insane. At least, in a Munchkin Cthulhu RP kind of way.

Dragon - pretty damn rare. And according to which type or mythology, not necessarily all bad. Infact that really hot paladin chick in golden scale armour sitting at the Tavern is probably a gold dragon slumming it with the hummies. That and dragons have been shown to have definite weaknesses.

Zombie Army - now even though we know a shotgun blast to the brain is probably going to kill them, theres always going to be another one. As Ryan said, the zombies are likely to be people you know. You family, neighbours (ok so thats not always a bad thing), your family dog zombie. That and how many shotgun shells you got? So yeah, zombie armies are scariet because the threat is on going. And as movies have well documented, even the army is poorly equipped to cope with zombies. And one bite and your joining them. To nom nom your loved ones. Or be shot in the head. Scary.

My vote is for George Bush Jnr. and Dick Cheney, because they were/are real.

I’m just not sure whether they count as a zombie army or servants of Cthulhu (may he eat me last). I just know that they are evil.

edited to correct a name

Cthulhu will eat your face.

I always just assumed they were Avatars of Azathoth and Nyarlathotep respectively.

zombies - for the simple fact that it is the most likely to happen

More likly than pirates… or ninja…

wow… I so don’t want to read your mind right now…

Yeah Adam, not sure about the logic there either. I mean, pirates do actually kill people… And people who think they’re ninjas frighten me.

Well, Cthulthu is holding his head high. After taking an early lead, he’s never dropped below 50% of the vote. That’s pretty special really.

I’m surprised that the Zombie army is beating out everything else for second place. I added them almost as a last thought. I wonder, is it because “28 weeks after” is on TV at the moment, or the fact that Nightmare Circle had a total party death at Chimera in 45 minutes?

Nice to see the good old fashioned Dragon in third place 8) It’s a comfort that they haven’t been too strongly stereotyped by modern Hollywood movies, to be tossed in with the unicorns and fairies.

Are you kidding? Unicorns are TERRIFYING

Holy Crap! Unicorns!?!?! Where?

runs and hides
