Uscmc

all of the pictures and talk of the lase tag guns, in particular the M41-A pulse rifle that david found, has put me in mind of a game based on the Colonial marines from Aliens.

please note that i am not talking about a game with Aliens in it but rather a campaign of Mil Sim games using the USCMC, similar to the stargate idea.

as for locations i know where there is an derelict freezing works that is accessable.

wadda ya think

Sounds awesome

Oooooohhh… :open_mouth:

I’m in! SO definitely! ka-spoing

if its any help i do have a copy of the colonial marine technical hand book , which includes some very good details on hardware and composite laminate body armours

What sort of composites are we talking? (i.e. are they doable without huge amounts of trouble, or will we have to fake the look?)

I’ll be looking up reference in terms of costume look, am researching for heaps of stuff right now.

I am liking…

:open_mouth:

Wha…who…where…how do you find this stuff.

anyhoo something that i thought of is that each player is given one cheesy cliche “hero” line along the lines of “Make my day” or “I’ll be back” something throw away like that and they must include it in normal coversation and it must make sense.

just for fun

I call ‘born to kill’, now to find a peace symbol badge. . .

no it has to be “they mostly come out at night, mostly”

you dont get to choose, the lines are given out at random much like the words you are able to say in “OG”

and you must drop them into normal conversation. so painting them onto your helmet wont do it sorry

I can’t do both?

man you can have born to wear pink frilly tutus on your helmet if you want but that might not be your line, is all i’m saying, the lines are chosen at random

Well I’m thinking I bring a marker and write it on there once I get it.

whats the point of that?

I mean if you have to say it, and it might not be something that you would think was that cool in the end, do you really want it scarwled across your helmet for every one to see?
And what if, when sayng it, you screw it up some how, then everyone will know, because you have the correct statment on your hat. and they will all laugh and point.
Why dont you just put something on your hat, and leave it at that, and have you talky bit, which would be different, and save every one the hassle of having to point and laugh at the same time. Its better all round really.

Good point.

I think I’ll just draw something on there and be done with it

write across the back

“when i die bury me upside down so the world can KISS MY ASS"
or
"Peace through superior kick ass-ness”

Mine’s gonna say

i have friends in Wayland-Yutani? Nah a while ago this book was released as part of the merchandising for Aliens, i used to have it. Fortunately a friend of mine found a pdf copy of it.

In answer to Steelphoenix, i shouldn’t have tried to get technical, the armour can be made out of plastic or even dense foam, what i meant to say was there are some good pics of how the armour is put together, (silly me)

on a costuming note, based on the aliens novel it turns out that USCM crews combat equipment is not uniform, they are allowed to wear what ever military fatigues they choose with regard to combat BDU and equipment, it only has to fit the mission requirements as determined by mission orders and is vetted through the company commanders or senior NCO’s discretion.

as an example in the novel marines are allowed to personalise their armour, (as Matt has been suggesting he would,) and PFC Frost had a holographic full nude print of his current grilfreind on the front plate of his.
although everyone found it funny, Apone pulled rank and ordered it removed prior to combat. Just some thoughts

oh fantastic, the fact that we can personalise our unform is going to make things much easier.

still the electronics is going to be sticky, the combat cameras and such like, and what veer we do we have to have motion sensors and they have to make the right sound, that is so atmospheric.
