I’m interested, but I don’t want to commit right now.
I need the dates to arrange time off work
I’d need to know dates as well. But it sounds like a lot of fun.
What those three said.
The Taupo Joust is on Fri 2nd - Sun 4th Feb at Spa Park in Taupo.
Its going to be big with 7-10,000 visitors.
Spa Park is free to camp on, theres a river next to it for swimming/bathing or you can pay $2 to use the showers at the pool complex across the road from the park.
Ah. Question answered. I’ll get back to you. Who should I pm if I can definitely make it?

The Friday will be mostly setup / practising. Saturday and Sunday are the days that we really want to be there. I’ll probably drive down early Saturday morning aiming to be there by 10-11am
If I dressed up as a boy, could I be Alan A’Dale? On the grounds that I can actually sing and that…
Good question.
I wouldn’t mind helping organise and pull this together. I want to get as many larp projects in before uni consumes my life again as possible…anyone other takers?
I think that will be a better idea than having brendan totally go OTT and turn it into Men In Tights meets Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
I suspect Brendan’s going to be busy keeping the actual thing running.
I’m going away on Boxing Day and will be back on about the 4th. After that, do we want to have a chat to the organisers and see what they have room/time for and then get a bunch of people together and write up a game?
at the risk of looking like a twat, what does this event cost? I cant find anything about any kind of cost anywhere.
My self, and Anikka want to come, and if there is a fee we will need to know about it. Also what are the rules about tents? do modern ones have to be hidden? and is Kane allowed to be a Jester? he really wants to be.
And lasty, for costuming purposes, what sort of period would the costumes want to be in?
R
Last year (which isn’t a guarantee, but is indicative), entrance was free if you came in period kit, period being defined very loosely. You could probably get away with anything up to Renaissance, or go the Fantasy route without anyone blinking an eye. Shouldn’t be a problem with jesterage.
There were two sites for tents, the period ones being close to the jousting area and the modern ones up on a rise.
You will have to bring or buy your own food.
Thanks Cat,
you answered that better than I could.
I’ve talked to the organisers and if you’re going to be participating with the LARP and providing entertainment then no entry charge.
They haven’t sent an entry price for others yet, but last time it was $5.00pp
I’m still keen to do this. Who else is going down and wants to be involved? We can write up a loose story for it, kit ourselves out with business cards and run with it on the day.
i am still interested in going, I have to take care of work first though, (and after visiting tigger last night, heal)
but i am keen so if you want to go ahead with the larp then write me in.
I’d heard that the stairs-to-nowhere got you…
Even if I cast you as the Sheriff?
as long s I can get the car back, which shoudl be this week, mechanicis willing, we will be there, tents, garb and all, so count me in for a damned good larping. be gentle with Anikka though, she is new to all of this.

I’d just need transport there and maybe to borrow a weapon…

Crossing my fingers for that car, it’d be great to have you all down there.
The Sheriff isn’t a bad guy, he’s the Champion of Law and Order, the loyal right hand man of the law, stamping out nasty bandit scum. He’s misunderstood is all.
Plus you’d be really cool and menacing. Booming voice, dark armour, confident stride.
