The Great Lake Medieval Tournie & nzLARPS

The Joust was a lot of fun. It would have been even more fun had I not been helter-skelter with everything, but the jousting was incredible to watch. Looking forward to next year already.

Squeeeeeeeee! That was so much better than anything I could imagine! I had so much fun!!!

That was an absolutely fantabulous weekend.

This is not the weekend to which I look forward to all year. Amazing time.

Again this year was well worth attending. The 2 realy Big High Points for Me:

 1. Charlie The Lance Breaker (Didn’t see it my self but saw the footage of it which should be up soon - Totaly Epicly Insane)

 2. The Seige Weapons and the very nice man that broke down and eventualy let me and justin fire them

Now that I’m a little bit recovered - bah, who am I kidding, I need to sleep for at least a week to recover - I need to thank some people for being seriously awesome:

I want to once again thank (in no particular order) Kim, Malu, Lucy B, Gareth “Mohammed” H, Gareth “Gaffy” S, Matt, Judit, Vanya, Cameron, Wendy, Scotty, Tim C, and Muppet, all exceptional people, for working their butts off this weekend, some of them even with no notice at all, some of them not even members of nzLARPS, to run the main gate at the joust. As a result of their hard work, nzLARPS was donated funds by the lovely people who ran the joust.

Thanks also to Peter and Sridat, who pitched in when things got a little hectic.

And now for the photos from the weekend:

well, it looks like you all had a wonderful time. I really wish I could have been there, but with out a car that just wasn’t going to happen. But next time I will be there, I have a car now, just needs a gearbox.
So any one who has a 1993 Mitsubishi Chariot gearbox second hand, let me know, and I will buy it off you.

And now, more photos, this time from my sister.

But first, a word from my sister:
Just a quick note regarding the photos. Hopefully many of you have been linked in this direction and hopefully some of you are people I met over the weekend. If you didn’t already know, I am quite keen on photography and hoping to take it further in the future and so am trying to promote my art this year before I go onto Uni next year. The photos linked below aren’t edited in anyway yet except a quick and semi-successful attempt at watermarking with my DeviantArt address. When I get some time I’m going to play around with and enhance some of the better ones and these will be posted on said DeviantArt account.

Feel free to use or save my photos but credit in some way would be appreciated. =) I can also make prints from (un-watermarked) photos if anyone is interested or I can put all photos onto CD as well. Contact me if interested. Or just look at the purty pictures and enjoy. =)
I just wanted to make a personal thanks to all the LARPers at the festival, without your help and dedication, the festival would never have been the success it was. We owe you.

Same back at you Hawkwind. Thanks for organising a fantastiic event and for giving us the opportunity to participate.

Also guys does anybody want some souveniers of the event?

I have 25 full-colur A3 size Taupo Joust posters that I have had signed by the NZ team - Sir Graham, Sir Jeremy and Sir Robert. Im flogging them off at $10 each with all proceeds going back to Nick and Ishtar, who ran the event and sunk some personal money into it.

Who wants to buy one? Any that haven’t been spoken for by the end of the week I’ll be putting up for sale elsewhere, but you guys get first dibs.

Book me for one please, how can i get the money to you?

If people are keen to get them quick then you can do a bank transfer and I can post them, but p&p is going to be about $5. Otherwise I can just hold them and bring them along to various nzLARPS games/meetings etc and we can do the exchange there. Alternatively if your address is on/near to my route of daily travel (Papakura along SH1 to Takapuna) and we can arange a suitable time for drop-off I can do so for $2.

I’ll definitely be in for one. Where should we deposit the money?

Gonna be looking forward to the next Joust all year now.

I’ll have one. You can give it to me at the next nzLARPS meeting

Ok, so we’ve got 1 each for:
David
Vanya
Anna
Clare

Anyone else?

I’d like one too

Update

Posters put aside for:

David, Vanya, Anna, Clare, Daniela, Scott, Hawkwind, Wendy, Judit.

Not all that many left, so if you want one tell me now.

Incase anyone hasn’t heard about it or seen it - or just wants to relive the event - One of the most talked about moments of the event was caught on film. I saddly missed it at the event and there is talk of it never being repeated although both men said they would be keen, But now you can see it for yourself…
