Robin of sherwood - 80s British tv series

Very close to what we actually do in Fantasy Larp, ie. medieval setting, good, but not over the top costumes - very rustic. Good combat. Magic is mystical and manipulative. Good plots. That sort of thing.

I LOVE robin of Sherwood!
Robin’s merry men (and Robin himself) actally die! A rare event for most series.

Robin getting ambushed and stuck with half a dozen crossbow bolts was actually shocking.

The 1993 version of the three musketeers was RUBBISH!!! it was the typical attitude of hollywood producers of lets take a literary classic and RAPE IT TO WITHIN AN INCH OF ITS LIFE JUST TO SELL F******G MOVIE TICKETS!!!

Which it didn’t because it was shite and audiences knew it was shite and it bombed.

I would rather have my eyes gouged out and Justin Timberlakes tiny tiny bollocks transplanted in thier place than watch that load of Poo.

Is that the one with Tom Cruise in it that you’re thinking of? I remember seeing a movie called The Musketeer, sometime in the last five years, that was only in sniffing distance of the original plot - it mostly used similar names. Truly amazing action sequences though - they’d borrowed the fight director from the Wuxia genre. Ladder fights, rolling barrels, sword duels as both participants climbed up ropes… :open_mouth:

As an aside, I have never seen a movie version of The Man in the Iron Mask that doesn’t stop halfway through the book and change really serious stuff, like, y’know?

The whole Dora series would be ideal. But probably only for 2-4 year olds.

They usually have a “treasure hunt” type theme, using a map and having to follow simple directions. Sometimes they have riddles and clues Dora has to solve.

I’ll probably run one for my daughters on the next birthday.

Charlie Sheen as Aramis, I am sorry but this is like casting The Rock as Frodo. before an actor can assume a role he has to understand how the character lives and thinks, this would be difficult when you are so spaced out on cocaine that you dont actually realise you have just spent the last fortnight with your head between Hiedi Fliess’s legs

That was hong kongs take on the material, the fight scenes were spectacular, but that is about all you can say really

If you want a “Real” movie version of the Three Musketeers then watch either the 1973 version

not only does it have Oliver Reed (who is an acting GOD) but Raquel Welch (who is just a Goddess, and boy does she fill out a bodice growwr)

but other such greats as Christopher Lee, Roy Kinnear, Spike Milligan, and Faye Dunaway and Micheal York and Richard Chamberlain.

It is an example of what happens when you put incredible actors, together with an incredible story, You get a masterpiece.

the interesting thing about this one is that it has Gene Kelly as Dartagnan, now you might wonder about this but man he is just an Incredible athlete and acrobat, in this movie he is doing stuff that would make Jackie Chan go “Dude you Rock” some stunts are simply mind blowing, and all done with No safeties or doubles. this is without a doubt the golden age of swashbuckling and I am shameless in my love of it.

The three Musketeers is about three on my lifetime favourite books, (LOTR aint even in the top ten) it is the book that inspired me to learn sword fighting, so forgive me if i gush
