The Best LRP Movies Ever

Could you list your favourite, greatest all time Live Role Play movies.

My top 5 (to 8 ) would be

  1. Highlander. (Note the movies Highlander 2 and 3 were never made.)
  2. The Princess Bride (The sword fight)
  3. Lord of the Rings ( The Peter Jackson version)
  4. Labrynth
    5=) Matrix
    5=) The Terminator.

So what are your choices?

The criteria is

“of interest or inspiration to Live Role Players and/or Live Role Play systems”

I don’t get the criteria here. How are these “Live Role Play movies”??

I’m not too sure about ‘LRP’ but I’d have to add in Ladyhawke.

It really depends on the genre for me, I have my favourites from each, but I’ve never really compared them with each other

Be daring, try! What films do you think all Live Role Players must view before they die, (by your hand or of old age.)

the princess bride. without a doubt.
My life was culture-less and lacking until i saw that movie,
Thanks Andrew

Oh right. Hrm.

I’d suggest Miracle Mile, an 80’s flop that sucessfully builds a LOT of tension with nothing but a rumour and a small budget. It’s always been a model for me on how to make things seem a lot more frantic than they necessarily are.

I have it on DVD if anyone would like to borrow it.

Starship Troopers

I would add the following to the list in no particular order

-Equilibrium
-The Mad Max trilogy
-Escape from LA
-Tank Girl

  • The Naked Lunch
  • Schindler’s List
  • 1984
  • The Truman Show
  • The Muppet Movie

If anyone can find The Last Supper let me know. Another one for larp-ready drama fun-ness.

Just making my list

Standing by.

Cameron has seen at least a dozen motion pictures. His list may not be short.

Robin of sherwood - 80s British tv series

Very close to what we actually do in Fantasy Larp, ie. medieval setting, good, but not over the top costumes - very rustic. Good combat. Magic is mystical and manipulative. Good plots. That sort of thing.

  1. Reservoir Dogs
  2. Once Were Warriors
  3. Peter Pan
  4. Shrek
  5. Swiss Family Robinson
  6. Pulp Fiction
  7. Withnail & I
  8. Trainspotting
  9. The Wonder Boys
  10. River Queen

I LOVE robin of Sherwood!
Robin’s merry men (and Robin himself) actally die! A rare event for most series.

Robin getting ambushed and stuck with half a dozen crossbow bolts was actually shocking.

Nobody has mentioned Flesh & Blood yet!
Or even Brotherhood of the Wolf…
