not larp safe but possibly a good place to start.
The way to do it is with an actual chainsaw and no chain/blade. So the motor just spins up and sits screaming inside it and everyone’s happy.
Oh, come on, that is larp safe.
Theres larp safe & then theres larp safe when they’re shooting you with BB’s. I don’t think I’d be too worried about the plastic chainsaw. But I probably wouldn’t want a de-chained chainsaw swung at me though. Zombies aren’t supposed to flinch after all.
It’s ok for 400 unexpecting customers every night at Spookers. The sticky-outy bit is not heavy, and they’re hard to swing fast because of their weight.
The toy chainsaw doesn’t cut it (ha), if you’re going to do a chainsaw, do it properly.
yes but at spookers they dont make contact…
I suppose a removed chain and padding around the edge of the “Bar” would work…
Re the computer tech scenario, you could do something where the tech has to obtain a certain file and get it out (on a USB memory key). Then you have the time to copy, to find the file, maybe to set up the PC if it is in pieces, and so on.
At the university we occasionally get old PCs being tossed out, an old desktop would be a good place to start. I have an old monitor here that could be donated plus a keyboard that could be leant.
Depending on the (real life) tech level of the players, I could easily set up a nice puzzle (eg, linux box, you dont have the password, need to break in… hope you brought your knoppix disk…)
Sounds like it was a very good collaboration. Definitly we should do more, maybe with a NZLARPS co-writer so that the larpers get more involved?
