Project: pTimer V2

What does it do?
It is a multipurpose timer prop thing.

3 main modes.
Code, enter the correct 4 digit code to disarm it.

Wire, cut the correct wire to disarm it.
2 of the wires will make it count down faster
the others will set if off.

Button, Hold down the buttons for a set time to disarm.
Hold down both to disarm in half the time.

Remote, if you have two or more units with the same Group ID, disarming or setting off either will set all the units in the group.
Of course a remote set to the Group ID will do this as well.
Each unit can be in any of the 3 main modes.
eg one on wire, the other two on code.

All the parameters are user adjustable.
.Operation mode
.Device IDs
.Countdown time
.Disarm time
.Disarm code

These is a radio check function to test communication with the other units in the group.

To do:
add an accelerometer so when it is armed any sudden movements will set it off.

12 hours of coding later and we have…
Yes a smarter person could have done quicker :stuck_out_tongue:

Code debugged, ready for soldering.

Cut tracks.

Could have left the resistors off but you never know when a pin will be set for output rather than input, then smoke :frowning:.

It is bad enough we have a bomb so let’s not tempt fate and make it look like one too.
Maybe someone else can make a nice case for it

This is awesome!

I take it that the radio modem is required for Group mode ?

Having several of these would be excellent for our modern/futuristic larps.

Modem, correct.

Since we probably don’t game/larp on the same days you would be most welcome to borrow it

Anyone game to make a case for it? :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, that look AMAZING! Is it the blue wire, or the red wire??

Actually if I used fishing line and lit them up, the wires could change colours on ya :astonished:

Mate, that’s outstanding. Assemble me a kit, I’m buying.

I don’t imagine making a case will be difficult…

Dick Smith has cases for electronics

or at least they did 20 years ago

That is wickedly cool!

If can’t find a case for sale then you could make one out of wood pretty easy. It wouldn’t look OOC either if it was made bad. I mean, when making a real bomb who would care if the sides aren’t quite in line properly?

They did, but they seem to be getting out of the electronic bits game (witness the Power House). These days I use Jaycar in Newmarket. Cases galore.

Yup, jaycar, my crackhouse of choice

Actually farnell but at least I can get parts on a sunday at jaycar.

Or surplustronics may be a place to hit.
