I am sure you can think of alternative uses for it

This 4x4 beastie, when warranted.Any mechanics in the house?
Great for getting around the Helensville fields, and rolling around town getting looks.

Most of our members have a few weapons and don’t usually mind lending them out to trusted people.
To get onto that list , come out to an event and meet them

Any more questions ask
Kham
ASA President

Those venues look sweet…I say yes but its the commities decision

The committee has resolved to get friendly with Kham.

Not that it’s the committee’s decision at all! We’re happy to help people get friendly if that’s how they roll.

Those venues are dribbletastic.

AAS would be cool to be friends with. Impromptu games, here we come. I baggs PUSA!

Actually, Kham talked at the committee meeting about how they “always need VIPs to protect” or “villagers and hostages and stuff”. Is it just me, or does a larp where a bus-full of tourists get captured by baddies and there’s an attempted rescue by good cops. Or the other way around –

A splinter-group of terrorist freedom fighters runs a fraudulent fundraising campaign under the “Greenpeace” name. They use the funds to travel to North Korea with a group of mercenary soldiers and intend to sabotage a well-guarded top-secret North Korean nuclear research facility!

Colombia is at war with Ecuador, but a meeting is arranged between top diplomats at the border. Each country is corrupt and wants to compromise the meeting by holding the other party at gunpoint… with tensions high and VIPs on both sides, this history-changing battle could go either way…

War crimes are rampant in Indonesia and the United Nations wants more evidence. A crack team of press photographers is sent to gather evidence, but they must be protected by armoured guards…

That’s exactly what these guys want - and they’ll organise most of the game for you! :smiling_imp:

Hell, it could happen in the middle of a Couples game

I would play in any or all of those.

Whoa Craig, now you’re talking :stuck_out_tongue:

Let me find a nice tour bus for this scenario

Any good/bad dates to try and run something like this in april?

Saturday the 26th of April is good, it’s one week after the first Multiverse day-game.

Darn, just checked our calender, we are having our AGM on that date.
How about the weekend after? or next free weekend

Will also need a gm for the larp side to help with planning.

Oh my goodness, I would so play in one of those games. Venues look awesome.

Me too, me too.

Would those venues be available for non-gun larps? One or two of them look very suitable for large historical/fantasy larps in the camping out style. Do any of them have toilet/shower blocks, or is it just individual toilets?

They are avail for whatever you want.

Only 3 have single toilet access.

Otherwise rough it
Solar shower, hole/porta potty.

We have just done some work on our warehouse in Northcote.
I am sure you guys could use it for something

Theme it to suit your purpose.

Some of those ideas look awesome!
But would the ASA guys be happy to take a backseat for non-gun stuff to happen? Most people on here, I imagine, would want a larp experience that was more than sitting around being a hostage or VIP. If you’re a bodyguard, most of your time is spent standing around with a gun, not really doing much. In a pure ASA game, you could cut that to a minimum so everyone gets to do what they love, but for larpers a lot of their game would be the standing around parts - negotiating etc. And while gun fights are cool, a larp should consist of more than just running/sneaking around with someone while they shoot at other people.
I guess it comes down to, are people willing to try something new - and modify their hobby to incorporate another.
On the larp side, I think it would be absolutely fantastic. It’d add a whole new level of realism to modern/futuristic larps, and I can’t wait to play in some of those venues!

There may be some compromises on both sides.
It will come down to planning to get the most out of both sides
Any help appreciated.

Well, these guys are interested in shooting each other up, but they’re also interested in realism. They might find that long-range sniping or avoiding bullets is even more heart-pumping when in context. Larpers enjoy action too, and drama can happen in the middle of it.

I really like the idea of a collaboration where NZLARPS provides people to play the non-coms (VIPs, villagers, etc etc) and ASA provide the gun-toters. We’d have to be careful about safety issues - after all, getting hit by airsoft still hurts just as much whether you’re carrying a gun or not! I’/m expecting much Stockholm Syndrome and stupid VIPs to be in evidence.

The venues are also good for pitched battles with standard padded swords or even for SG21 missions.

We really need to finish the Wiki and the venue catalogue.
