Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

In fact every Aucklander who came down for Kapcon should come back down. We enjoyed havin’ y’all

Nope, you can’t have them! I need them to introduce me to the wilds of the Auckland cinemas and keep me safe! Yarrr!

Zane and I would like to come (to the Auckland one) too! Not sure how pirate like we’ll be though (I’m going through Wellington withdrawal, I wanted to stay… :frowning: )

Yarrr, just remindin’ folk that this still be happenin’! All are welcome, costume heavily encouraged. Exact details to be sorted closer to the time, but just bumping this thread for interest.

i don’t know how i missed this but i’m most definately in!

Beccah and I are totally in

I confirm that I am still in

So, do people prefer to see this 3D or standard 2D?

3D Digital is $18.90 approx
standard is $16.50 approx

You may be able to get a group discount depending on which version. I have a contact that might be able to help with big bookings if you want it. I don’t mind either version but does anyone get sick watching 3D?

I trust spirits won’t be dampened overly by your friendly local Collective Lawyer tagging along? Has a venue been decided yet?

Also, I may have successfully conned/persuaded my sister into joining us.

Lawyers welcome, come in pirate garb

But that might require me to wear colour !

Come as the lawyer, we’ll dig up some manacles from somewhere and you can be our prisoner

Maybe we should start a poll on this, but I’m very keen on seeing in the 3D version. Even the cheesy “shoehorn the 3D in post-production” they used on Clash of the Titans was worth the extra $2.40. Hopefully we are all OK with 3D ?

3D sounds great, and so does the poll idea.

Lawyers, pirates, they are all the same, they all go with “take what you can, give nothing back” motto, ne?

I’d like to see this at Sylvia Park, because it has abundant free parking, good food, a Borders and loads of open spaces for us to lark about in pirate gear/have mock battles. We can organise carpooling for folk who can’t get there by public transport. If vast amounts of people would like to go to a different cinema, I could be persuaded to shift, but I’d need to know why the cinema is better  I am not keen on Queen St at all because parking is a pain in the parrot.

So far we’ve had affirmative interest from Vanya, Lucy, Dave A, Jackie, Karen, Kerry, Kahiro, Kara, Alice, Zane, Prema, Mike, Beccah, Ignifluous, plus about a half dozen others who have expressed interest offline. Karen also said she might be bringing her group along, so it looks like it’ll be a hell of a gig

If you are interested and feel strongly about it being a particular day, cinema or dimension, post below, otherwise I will assume you are happy with whatever the group majority is. Please do tell your friends and invite more people, Karen is kindly investigating the possibility of booking a cinema for this!

My mooted time and cinema for this is Friday 20th May at Sylvia Park in 3D.

I’m keen, ESPECIALLY if it’s at Sylvia Park rather than a place with no/difficult/extortionate parking
(Now I just need a costume)

It’s on FB, it’s now official: facebook.com/event.php?eid=196035683764984

As long as it’s an evening showing, that sounds good to me … work and all that, y’know.

Mock battles in the plaza outside the cinemas sounds fun … I assume we’d be good citizens and advise security beforehand? Does anyone have some cones and/or hazard tape we can use to make an instant duelling ring? Or we could just have the people at the corners hold the tape/rope …

Plus, Sylvia Park has a Theobrama’s Chocolate Shop … a cafe that specialises in authentic Belgian chocolate, and all its many uses …

Unfortunately, due to being mostly blind in one eye, I can’t see 3-D movies.

I wish it were a case of it being that I just didn’t see the cool 3-D effects, but the entire screen is blurry for me.

If the majority want to see 3-D then I’ll join you for pre-movie fun in costume, but won’t be able to go see the film.

(Stupid eye… :frowning: )

Ah Jackie. You may be interested in a pair of 2D-glasses…invented by a notible geek.
