Paddywhack has just sold out of daggers.
Get in quick, before the item of your choice disappears off the list.
I’ve just sold out of Mercenary Longswords.
All the other longswords are still available for $169.95 (or $118.97 for NZLARPS members), except for the Rapier which is $229.95 ($160.97).
Apart from their more sophisticated appearance, the advantage of these other longswords over the Mercenaries Longsword is that they are counterweighted in the hilt, making them easier to control.
The Saber isn’t counter-weighted, but it has complete hand protection. I think the Saber will be very suitable for Empire soldiers in Marc’s Warhammer larp, just as the Rapier will be great for nobles.
I’m happy to announce that Paddywhack is now incorporated as a limited liability company in New Zealand.
Paddywhack Productions Limited is the new company’s name.
I wanted to separate the Paddywhack finances from my personal accounts before I move on to some more project ideas under the company banner.
For those wondering about the process of buying a latex weapon from Paddywhack Productions, here is the Complete Dummy’s Guide.

Check with me that the weapons you want are available in the desired quantity. Email me at ryan@mordavia.com or PM me here to check. Note that daggers, katanas, and mercenary longswords are sold out and I’m not taking orders for them. Some of the other weapons are also in short supply now. I will also provide you with a quote of the amount to pay. Let me know if you’re a member of NZLARPS, and whether you require delivery.
-
Make a payment. If you see me in person, cash or cheque is fine. Cheques can be made out to “Paddywhack Productions Ltd”, and can also be sent to 1/16 Fairlands Ave, Waterview. Otherwise a bank transfer to the following account can be made:
Paddywhack Productions Ltd
38-9005-0202761-00
- Pick up the weapon from me. If you would like the weapon delivered, there will be an additional $5 delivery charge within New Zealand. Enquire with me for delivery costs to other countries, e.g. a package to Australia with longswords in it costs around $25. Add this to the cash, cheque, or transfer. Note that Long Axe weapons are too long to be sent, they must be picked up.
Thanks to all the lovely people who’ve bought weapons over the last couple of years.
Ryan

Given that I’m short on several types of weapon, can people please give me an indication of what they’re be interested in buying if I bring in stock?
- Daggers/knives
- Shortswords/Arming swords
- Plain longswords
- Plain two-handed swords
- Fancy/unique 1H or 2H swords
- Axes (different to the Ex-Caliber ones)
- Shields
- Arrows
- Bows
- Anything else
Hi,
Can you tell me a bit about the construction of the gear you sell? Basically I need to know if they’ll stand up to some novice with a giant boffer sword.
And also tip construction.
If they are suitable I’ll be looking for a shortsword and dagger (which are out of stock)
Also are you able to get other styles? I have seen “bone” swords on the net but they are unsuitable due to construction (not latex foam or have sharpish edges)
If anyone handcrafts these items I’d like to know, anything better than standard boffer would be great (I’ve said before I have ideas on what gear I want, I am just a hopeless craftsman)
Cheers
Jared
Hi Jared,
The gear is constructed using standard European latex weapon methods.
The core is a solid rod of fibreglass or carbon fibre, usually around 8mm in diameter. Over that are three layers of closed-cell foam - the type varies between manufacturers. That makes up the bulk of the weapon. The surface is latex rubber, with colourant and sealant.
The tip of the core is prevented from “thrusting through” by two pieces of kevlar, one on either side of the tip. European latex weapons are not recommended for thrusting, but we’ve found them okay for it so long as you’re gentle.
Cheers,
Ryan

Plain two hander, bow, arrows, one handed axe and nice looking armour of some kind
Thanks Matt.
What sort of armour are you looking for? Leather, chain, or plate? Torso or limbs? So far I’ve sourced some nice leather vambraces and scabbards, but I’m interested to hear what else people are after.
I’m still looking at sources at the moment. People who were at the No Man’s Land play test seemed impressed with some of the new latex weapons I’ve brought in to test so far. I’m waiting for some other gear to arrive for comparison before deciding on a new source, when that’s sorted I’ll publish some prices and ask for orders.
Hi Ryan
Wish list:
-Scabbards that look better than my bodge jobs
-Torso Breastplates (Latex and foam for pref)
-and what Matt said.
AJ
Nice leather scabbards for latex weapons are definitely doable.
How about nice-looking plate armour made from polyurethane (durable plastic)? It wouldn’t be terribly cheap, though. Like this:
Mmmmm, yummy.
You said expensive, what price range? crosses fingers and hopes
I’m not 100% sure as I haven’t made enquiries or run figures, but I’d be surprised if that would be less than about NZ$225. More for a backplate as well.

A scabard would be nice as would a quiver. For armour I was thinking a helmet and chain shirt and some sort of bracers either plate or leather.
I can definitely do a nice leather scabbards and vambraces. Will get back in touch with prices when I have things sorted.
Okay, I’m ready to take an order now. I can’t take orders for bows & arrows just yet, but here’s what is available.
I’ll taking orders & payment in advance. Paddywhack’s usual NZLARPS 30% discount applies. Most of these items I won’t be bringing in unless people specifically order them for themselves now.
These weapons are more durable than the Ex-Caliber ones (especially the latex), the tips are more flexible, and the workmanship is generally better, hence the slightly higher price. Mike and Derek have seen the examples I have. They do not come with carry-bags to get stuck to the inside of.
Prices given are for short, medium and long versions of each weapon in that order. NZLARPS member prices in brackets. Lengths are around 70cm, 85cm, 100cm with some variation by type (I can give exact lengths on request). Delivery will be extra, pickup from my house is welcome.
Squire $112.50 ($78.75), $123.75 ($86.63), $135.00 ($94.50)
If you want a cheap longsword, this is your best bet at $94.50 for NZLARPS members. Note that the grip isn’t specially curved like the others, and the weapon is simpler overall than the rest of the weapons. Only colour available is steel.
Samurai/Oriental $180.00 ($126.00), $193.50 ($135.45), $207.00 ($144.90)
Always a favourite. The longest version is 106cm, quite long and should be suitable to use two-handed.
Celtic $157.50 ($110.25), $171.00 ($119.70), $184.50 ($129.15)
Nice early sword design, could pass for Greek or Roman.
Knight $157.50 ($110.25), $171.00 ($119.70), $184.50 ($129.15)
A fancier version of the Squire, with curved hand-shaped grip, blood gutter, and bell-shaped pommel. Choice of colours - gold, bronze, or steel.
Orc $180.00 ($126.00), $193.50 ($135.45), $207.00 ($144.90)
Your basic head-cleaving implement. Comes in “Rusty” and “Bloody”, although I think the bloody ones are actually rusty too. Kill your pointy-eared enemies AND give them blood poisoning.
Elf $180.00 ($126.00), $193.50 ($135.45), $207.00 ($144.90)
An elegent tool for killing the nasty holding the sword above with. Hopefully. I don’t recommend the green it looks kinda silly to me. If anyone would like a green 45cm dagger in this elven style with a very minor defect PM me for an extra-discounted price.
Footman $157.50 ($110.25), $171.00 ($119.70), $184.50 ($129.15)
A simple medieval design.
Templer $157.50 ($110.25), $171.00 ($119.70), $184.50 ($129.15)
This is the longsword that I have an example of. At 104.5cm it’s one of the longer swords, and I can use it two-handed although people with larger hands might not be able to. Has a quite traditional hilt style.
Evil McEvil $193.50 ($135.45), $207.00 ($144.90), $218.25 ($152.78)
So, you wanna be evil and you’re looking for a badge that says “Hello, my name is Evil McEvil and I eat babies”? Look no further.
I’ve run out of time, but later will post pics and prices for daggers, axes, leather bracers and greaves, and scabbards. There are also leather belts and gloves available in various styles, post if you want to see those too.
