New Gear Shed

Nikki has graciously offered to host a gear shed in her back yard. The committee have agreed to purchase a shed that will be suitable for the purpose. It’s 4.5m x 2.25m and 1.9m high with a gabled roof. We should be able to house most of our gear in it, and I’m still happy to house the large stuff like Erana’s columns, the Gate and the golem suit.

Date: Sunday 10th August

Time: 10am till 4pm (ish)

All we need to do is:

 1. Put up the shed

 2. Move the gear from my shed into Nikki’s shed

I propose we use two teams of volunteers.

We’ll need two teams.

TEAM 1 - Start at Nikki’s

 • Dismantle rotary washing line and move to front of house
 • Prune foliage and move to front of house
 • Level the shed site
 • Lay down tanilised supports
 • Unpack shed components and move to back yard.

TEAM 2 - Start at Mike’s

 • Double check box contents to ensure they are correctly stored
 • Load up the trailer with all the gear
 • Take trailer and gear to Nikki’s
 • Arrive at Nikki’s around 12:30pm

BOTH TEAMS

 • Construct shed
 • Load gear into shed
 • Load rubbish into trailer for taking to the tip

I’ll need to lead Team 2, mainly because I need to ensure that we don’t mix up Skirmish and nzLARPS gear.

We’ll need a volunteer to lead Team 1.

And we’ll need about 5 volunteers per team. Bring some money for a pizza lunch.

So, if you can spare a day to help in this, it would be greatly appreciated. Please indicate that you can help by posting a reply.

And finally, many thanks to Nikki for making this possible.

Mike

You’re pitching this all wrong. It should be something like this…

NEW!!! Larp
Set during the cold war of the 20st century, players portray spies deep in Communist Russia. Their mission is to steal state secrets from a secret location and transport them across the city to a new hiding place in anticipation of an eventual pickup by special ops.

What barriers will stand in their way?

Cost $5 for players / free for crew

I’m in!! I’m in!! I want to be an engineer!! I’ll pay 3cp and take “Flamethrower” as my weapon of choice, and 1cp for “Machete”. Oh and I want to set up a secret base too - can we make a shed or something in Nikki’s back yard? It will be the underground headquarters…

:stuck_out_tongue:

Serious mode - I’ll be up that weekend, count me in

I want to play a psychic operative like Cate Blanchett from the new Indiana Jones movie (well, only with better psychic powres) who’s helping steal the state secrets. I’ll carry a sword and put all the rest of my CP towards killing you with my brain!

Serious Mode - I’m in. I’ll be on the team unloading Mike’s shed.

Sometimes it works
"Dominate! Stab yourself!"

Sometimes it doesn’t . . .
“Dominate! Dominate! Dominate! Dominate!”
“Then tell me to do something!”
“Stop stabbing me!”
“Okay!”

I’ll help with the clearing and building.

Can I steal you for the stuff happening at my place AJ, as I know next to nothing about what actually needs to be done to my yard to make this work?

I’ll come too. I’ll be on team 1.

no surprize ,I’ll be on team 1 tho I might get stuck into some of that before then

You’re never going to let me live that one down, are you?

Um, New Larp !

Yeah ! Play in a postapocalyptic world where almost every plastic box contains a myriad of Awesomely Treasureful Items ™.

Are you up for the Grab, Steal, Pack & Load mission, targeting the ATIs ? If so, register your interest here.

Or are you more interested in the Slash, Remove, Level and Prepare slowburning XP-generator-type mission ? Leave your mark here…

Either way, both parties will go Head to Head in the Erect, Fill Up & Congratulate Each Other mission. Who knows, there could even be pizza at the end of it for those involved.

So, let us know if you are ready to take larping to the Next Level.

Mission: Gear Shed is sheduled for release at 10am (until 4pm) on Sunday August 10th.

Woohooo!!! My character sheet is in, I’m playing that guy that will be wherever the hell you need him to be

Tigger and I are playing, put us down for “Grab, Steal, Pack & Load Mission” since we’re just around the corner from the venue.

Looking forward to taking larping to the next level!

Barring me working 'til 3 am Saturday morning (which I won’t know until a week beforehand), I’ll be on Team 2.

I really hope more people are coming…

Yeah, I hope more people are coming too. It’s be fun !

If you have any of the following, please them:

 • hammer
 • electric drill (cordless preferred)
 • pop-rivet gun

Shed has been delivered guys

Come and help out and give something back to the larping community.

Plus it will be heaps of fun!

What a day!

It was a looooong day, but between 10am-8:30pm, we managed to unload Mike’s shed, level Nikki’s back yard, put up the new shed and move all the gear in. It was nothing short of Herculean, and big ups to everyone that was there:

Mike, who co-ordinated the entire project and worked like a fiend all day. Also, he shouted us pizza. Yay!
Gaffy, who’s been working on preparing the yard for two weeks now!
McDave and Tigger, who hammered, hoisted, rivetted, held, pushed, lifted and did all kinds of manly shed-building things without complaining all day.
Matt, for deciphering the convoluted, poorly explained and shoddily illustrated instructions to how to put the shed together.
Nikki, Kim, Alexcia and Lucy for holding the walls of the shed up for hours in the cold until it could stand unsupported, crawling through the bush to hold things, cleaning the yard, and unloading the trailer and loading all the gear into the shed.

Now, we have a stunning shed with plenty of room and all our gear neatly arranged inside it. This is a real asset to the larping community, thank you for putting in your entire Sunday to help make it happen.

What a STELLAR job everyone who turned up did. Its no mean feat that we levelled my yard, and built a massive shed pretty much from scratch. Thanks so much guys.

Also what awesome weather we had!!! God loves larpers Im telling you.

Nikki

Henceforth let it be known, that apparently I am now McDave

(except to Anna, who can call me HamiltonDave as long as she likes )

And it was my pleasure to help, cheers to Mike for letting me play with power tools and a hammer for the best part of 11 hours

Well done team, that was an awesome effort !

I fully agree Anna, Dave and Nikki’s comments. This was the most intensive larp-related project I’ve been involved in, ever.

Big ups to everyone who put in their time and effort to deliver a great asset for the larping community. The day was long, and we all worked well past dinner time, yet everyone kept beavering on with good cheer and humour.

All the boxes are in, and there’s room for plenty more. Plus, there is room to install storage solutions for loose items and materials. The new shed is much better than my shed, with more space and none of the pesky obstacles. Oh, and no rats !

In the meantime, I’ll keep the raw materials (leather etc) in my shed until we have installed some storage solutions.
