Nerds vs. Jocks

I was tossing around ideas with Matt on the ride home from Nightmare Circle this weekend and I had what I think would be an innately humorous and fun idea. We run a game set in some college in the US and square off the warring factions of the nerds and the jocks, in a bitter competition of pranks, sabotage, public humiliation, and overall outdoing, to the end of some asinine goal. One side could be one of the on-campus fraternities and the other a dorm for the science/engineering/computing/etc. students. There would of course also be roles for members of faculty and if it could be managed, a neutral sorority house.

I know everyone can spend a couple of minutes thinking about how uproariously funny the in-faction RP would be, let alone the interaction between each side.

I love it. This would also cost about $5 to put on. Do.

I would be in for something like this, it would be pretty funny really.

R

i’m getting in early and placing myself in the side of the nerds

A “Revenge of the Nerds” Larp

And to think that when I suggested a “Allo Allo” larp people scoffed at me, Seesh :unamused:

I’d prefer an “Allo allo” larp. I’m too old to go on panty raids.

yeah me too, i would need Viagra to get motivated enough for the panty raid, which would unfortunately counter act my Alzheimer’s medicine, so even if i caught some nubile young co-ed i wouldn’t remember what i was supposed to be doing with her.

and would end up just boring her with long stories that go no where

The only problem I can see with that is that all of the community will want to be on the nerds team…

Pushes Ian over

WRONG, COIN DEXTER.

forgive me if i am wrong or misunderstanding you.

But isn’t it “Poindexter”?

(oh such an easy trap.)

NERD!

what is worse, correcting a nerd, or trying to trap one?

well ok fair enough i got caught, but i am not a nerd, and i cant be a jock (too many brain cells i am afraid, but not enough to be a nerd)

so can i just be one of the nameless people that has nothing to do with the infantile pissing contests between Nerds and Jocks.

but in any case are there not much better uses for our Larping efforts than this, sorry i might be a minority here but i outgrew “Revenge of the Nerds” at the same age that I outgrew the Transformers.

If a Transformers larp was possible I would be so up for it! But I fear it couldn’t live up to my mental image of towering transforming robots.

I still plan to do my giant-monsters-destroy-Tokyo, Ryan, and having a transformer in the fray would really add something.

But isn’t that the idea of LARPing? Your not a Shikadi invader, nor a pirate, nor a caveman, a medieval warrior or even a Rainbow 6 commando… yet is there a problem with you playing in any of these games?..

The giant monsters larp is still a wicked idea, would be very funny to play. The problem is, there are so many great ideas and not enough time to do them all justice.

If only we had a massive community

Giant monsters would be free to play, but you’d need to bring your own costume and it’d need to be great. No skin showing. The revenue for the game would come from the audience - it’d be $10 to watch

I feel like this’d be a good opportunity to experiment with no character death, also-- someone could surely be injured badly enough to be hospitalized or leave of their own volition (for whatever reason), but actual character DEATH would be very uncommon, and a huge deal.

With a mandatory downtime between the next game that character can turn up at? Could work for me.
