Larpzine sans nom - Dec 06

Nikki and I have carefully read and considered every piece of feedback we have been given on our last newsletter and have discussed our dissatifications with attempt 1.0

Our revamped society newsletter on steroids* will go to print on December 11th 2006.

We are looking at creating a magazine styled reporting and discussion of larp and the larp community.

The magazine will have a high standard of writing and committee approved presentation.

Game Organisers
If you have a confirmed date for a game of your larp that will happen within three months of Dec 11th and you want it to be mentioned in the magazine, please PM me.

If you would specifically like your larp to have no mention in the magazine, please also PM me.

For those writerly inclined:
We have some space in the magazine for about two short (400 words) larp related articles/opinion pieces of either the humourous or serious variety.

It’d need to completed by Monday 27th. Please PM me if you’re interested in writing something.

The Magazine is all done and has been mailed out to current members and affiliates.

If you are a current member and you have not received a Magazine by the end of the week please let me know.

We would appreciate feedback on the Magazine, as we can only hope to improve as we go.

Thanks

Is it being posted on Diatribe?

My 2 cents - I hope it’s not going to be.
My reasoning being that its a product of NZLARPS for it’s
members

I definately sent one to you, I used the address you PM’d me and I checked with the post shop that the format was correct and the correct postage. Let me kno if you dont receive it by the end of next week.

All memberships expired in September, if you havent paid again then unfortunately you’re not a member.

See www.nzlarps.org on how to join online.

Thanks Nikki, I will let you know when I get it.

I’m not trying to be negative here, I fully support the idea of a magazine an’ stuff.

BUT

I understood that NZLarps was created to support Larping in NZ. Isn’t restricting the mag to NZLarps members a bit contradictory to that?

No, not at all. Its going to members becasue they have decided to join and help support larp in New Zealand through NZLARPS with their membership fees.
I don’t have a problem with the magazine being sold to non-members for cost+profit, after all it was created with funds generated by NZLARPS.

My suggestion would be once the next issue goes out the previous issue goes online.

There’s an issue of cost, and one of providing members value for their membership fees.

If non-members want a copy perhaps they could pay a couple of dollars to have one sent out? You could even subscribe for the year.

For anyone who’s playing a few larps in the Auckland region at the moment it’s really far cheaper to join the society than not, due to the discounts on affiliated and project larps. Mordavia: Endgame alone had a $10 discount for NZLARPS members.

It costs about 2 dollars an issue to produce the magazine and it is a benefit for nzlarps members.

We will be putting up a Newsletter online for everyone to see but it wont have all the larpticles and contents of the magazine.

If non NZLARPS members are interested in having a quarterly magazine about larp sent out to them then I could look at offering a subscription. Let me know if there is interest and Ill work out a cost.

I have no objection to posting a PDF of the magazine online for all and sundry to view. After all, members get the actual printed thing. Making the content globally available can only help further our aims.

Maybe post online a month after the members have received it though?

Neither do I.
