LARPs Logo competition

OHH I SEE THE BOOT!

SO COOOL! it’s even like a larpy boot as well. NEATO~

Er… it’s more of an idea than a logo. Ignore the font/colours/layout.

The idea is the text “LARPSociety”, with a colour inversion after the “P”. It might actually look good if the whole thing was contained in a blotch of some sort, with a white hole in one half of the blotch. If that makes any sense.

or is this totally off course. i think i missed the key word of ‘contained’…

apoligies for the size againnnnn

I like where your head’s at.

I could suggest some other changes (like caps in one size for LARPS so that it can be read as a whole), but I think now that I’ve seen mine done better I prefer your concepts.

I like the stark and simple silhouette of your splat logo (the one Derek liked too), it’s just the verticalness and expansiveness that I find impractical. But maybe it would work in the context of a web design that was based around it.

okay - I’m almost ready to give up

apologies for the size

I dont know…I think they’re a nice size…Oh you meant size of the picture. (The joke had to be made!)

Of the ones posted here, Cat and I like the second one of Chloe’s best - the one with the leaves and the cup stain. It looks like a slightly distorted Chinese watercolour. Very graceful, too.

omfgroflmfao!!!11!!1one

good one, button <3

ty very much^^ that one was my favourite to make…so much fun! grunge makes me feel crazy.

& to compliment dereks post, we have booty! (yarr)

tee hee~

My vote goes for Chloë’s 'boot’ed logo. It’s got good readability and is more horizontal than the splat one.

The committee looked over all the logos in both colour and black and white, including a couple that were submitted on paper at the last minute (including mine), but weren’t able to agree on a final design. We intend to (as Ryan said) repost up details like ‘we liked part A, for this reason, but didn’t like B because…’

We intend to post a tighter brief soon, and people can have another go.

Incidentally, has anyone seen the “Fancy New Logo” that IRL (industrial research limited) got last year? They got some expensive person to design it and ended up with a logo like a gob of spit. Or a bird splat. Or a really juicy windscreen bug. Seriously, spatters are not as neat as they look at first. No offense intended Chloe and I love the other two, though I don’t think they’d fit on a small stamp or membership card, though OK for letterhead or website.

yeah, we were just throwing ideas around at first.

it’s good that a better brief will be made because it’s like soooper hard to start something from scratch without any idea of what anyone wants and then take criticisim on it because it turns out that infact, it wasn’t what anyone wanted in the first place but never bothered to specify on the brief.
or something. breathes not that i’m a graphic designer or anything~

anyway, the splatter brushes are totally neat when used in the right context. totally neat i tells ya.
<3 smashy

I kinda like the second one.
Reminds me of the fevered and hurried writings of a GM short on time and trying to fill gaps…

The third one I also like. Maybe if theres and issue of height being flung about then the “wings” could be made a bit more horizontal than vertical?

Good work Chloe.

Definately a matter of opinion and taste.

I think it’s fair to say that nearly everyone recieved some of the logos warmly, and that every submission had someone that was keen on it. But when we realised some of the other requirements of a “common seal”, we gots a thinking.

A few people here are probably pretty familiar with Fella from DeviantART. I think we need something like him. He is a “common seal”, a logo, and can be depicted in many ways, from very simple to very elaborate. I think this will be part of the new brief.

To give further heads up on that, we need to make a stamp out of the design. That doesn’t mean just black and white, it means 2 bit black and white. Stamps have no grey!

But I’m also keen to have something we can dress up for presentation and design. Well, more to come. Watch the space.

We’ve been more specific on the brief and kept entries open - we hope you all keep it up because there’s talent here that’s not to be missed.

The new thread is here.
