If you want to show your design off but don’t have anywhere to upload it, email a copy to me on exquire at gmail dot com, and I’ll give you some code to post here on the forum.

Can I add the following requirements for the logo:

Logo must include the word “LARPS” and be readable.
Electronic copy should be high resolution (for printing) - 300dpi. Most scanners can scan at this resolution.
Vector would be preferred.
The colours do not have to match DIATRIBE - if your design is good enough I’ll change the colours around here to match your set!
Logo should not lean in any particular genre or direction of LARPing, eg. “LARPS” with a sword through it would be inappropriate.
Seriously - be as artistic as you like, that should help you win. Submit letterheads and borders and HTML and paintings and stuff and we’ll try and accomodate it in the LARPS templates toolkit.

Okay, to start the ball rolling…

Basically: Arial Black font with an overlaid Victorian Silhouette font.

EDIT: Squashed it up a bit and fixed the S

LARPS: Vacuuming and Dog Training our Specialties?

. . . s l o w d a y a t t h e o f f i c e . . .

People who do not have access to a scanner can post or hand their entries to me for scanning, there are several of us here (including me) who have such a beastie. However, you’ll need to do this sufficiently in advance of the closing date for scanning to be done. You’ll probably want to tidy up the scanned image file after scanning and before submission, too.

Maybe swords etc in the logo would be OK, if there were also items representative of the other genres?

I have no idea how many entries we’re going to get.

LARPS: Leather And Rubber Perverted Sex?

Oh dear, oh dear…

But it’s too boring. You can do better!

thats your entry? maby I shouldn’t have thrown my one away…

That’s my first entry, which I’m hoping someone will improve on!

By all means, post what you’ve got and don’t be shy!

Here’s a concept. It’s not so much the font, as the idea of showing both “LARPS” and “LARP Society” at once, with colour inversion used so that it can be read either way.

A different font or use of colours might improve it.

The colour contast inspires thoughts of the division between the LARP world and mundane society as well. Or maybe that is just me.

Good point, hadn’t thought of that. It’s a pretty subtle kind of implication. It could be taken in a postive or negative light, so I hope the sort of people who would infer it would see it the positive way.

Changing the colour could make a lot of difference. The stark black and white is good for faxing and stamps, but positively Mordavian in it’s gothicness.

Say if you wanted it to go better with the Diatribe colour scheme (for example), something like this might work and make it more friendly:

for all you vampire lovers…

Sigh… I have one, but I dont think I have time to digitise

for all you vampire lovers…[/quote]Hey, it’s Sir Gawain’s crest!
Erm, might not go so well with the outsiders who think that Larp means devil worship and witchcraft, however.

It could be worse, I contemplated using a picture of an ancient Greek statue with two naked men wrestling

OK, quick entry.

The wings signify the liftnig of the mind to a new level, via the medium of the Imagination.

The row of Mundanes at the bottom are in contrast to the single non-mundane, who is clearly happy in his different and escape from conformity, even if on a temporary license.

The font of LARPS is a relaxed style, showing the easy-going nature of the organisation.

Finally, the official name of the organisation is included at the bottom, along with a brief quote to indicate the essence of role-play.

I have three more entries, which I call “stars”, “nature” and “80’s scifi candystore”…

These are all changable/interchangable so if anyone has constructive feedback on tweaks, it’s all possible. I definately don’t think any of them are “there yet” but if they tickle your fancy then speak up.

Of all the entries apart from mine, I like the direction that Stars is going best.

Edit: I quite like the angel wings on Steve’s design too, but not the rest so much. I like the implications of the wings and the stars - freedom, transcendence, individuality.
