LARP Combat Training Wellington

A number of people are interested to have a hit out and some have offered to bring extra weapons and shields and so on. Also people are keen on a picnic as well.

So Central Park, Brooklyn at 1.30pm next Sunday (6th March).

Would like to try and cover off:
Weapon safety and maintenance
Safe fighting and basic techniques
One on one style with different weapon combos
3 on 3, 3 on 2 (or more)
Fighting in forests
Fighting in the Teonn world (calls, spells and so on)

can we come even if we don’t have shields and swords yet? I have to make one and such but don’t have the money(for materials) or time yet…

Nice one Scott. Good points to cover.

Also @Grrlshapedthing (sure you have a real name somewhere) they are bringing extra weapons, so you’re covered.

Even then we can rotate if necessary.

it was so awesome to meet everyone!! I can’t wait for the next one

Agreed. It was a lot of fun.

Yes - the 26th. I’m going to try and get in touch with Northland Community centre again tomorrow regarding venue. They seem to not be checking their messages, which is a bit of a pain.

Please bring $2 to help cover costs.

Is this limited to people who went to the last one, or can interested new people like myself also attend?

Its open invite.

Oh and in addition some of us will be meeting up in town for drinks and a talking about LARPs and the like that evening, if people are keen to join us that would be great.

Thinking 8 ish at JJ Murphy’s on Cuba Street.

That was fun. Today I hurt a little. Thanks guys!

In particular, thanks to Paul for coming and teaching us random awesome stuff.

Was awesome! Need me some throwing knifes of doom now…

I wish I could have made it!!

Need me some $2 shop foam brushes to latex them. Unfortunately, I’ve had no luck in Palmerston North, Levin or Otaki.

When’s the next one?

Err try Bunnings. Maybe not $2 but they’ll be close. Under painting supplies [edit: not sure I even needed to add that last bit.]

Thanks everyone who turned up. Thanks to Naomi for organising the Hall for us, I think having a big indoor space (with resources like crash mats) to train in is great. Thanks for Paul coming down and teaching us some falling techniques as well.

The next planned training is the 30th of April. If people want one sonner then call out. Bryn and I will both be overseas for a fair chunk of April, but that doesn’t mean a training can’t be organised.
