LARP Combat Training Wellington

Thanks; I’m planning a raid on serious hardware shops over the weekend, to stock up. Need to see if I can get some 2m fibreglss core as well for spears…

I vote twice a week until the ultimate season re-starts. Who’s with me? :smiling_imp:

I would be keen on a high frequency, but twice a week is too often for me until after April. It was a great deal of fun and very educational, and I’m keen on more.

I’d be keen on doing some more things, although at the moment, its hard to give a time i’m available.
So if someone organises it, i’ll put it in my calendar and try to be there

I’ll definately make time in my calander to make it to future ones (missed out on the last due to un-forseen issues).

What is the chance of having some armour tested against weapons at some point? I’m currently working on a chainmail shirt for myself, and would love to have it tested when finished.

The weapons are foam; armour doesn’t so much need to be tested as the user get used to fighting in it. Tetrajak wore his leather to the last one for precisely this reason.

As Idiot says; if you want to test your armour, do so for the purpose of getting used to wearing it while fighting. As the armour mechanics in Teonn are not very specific (i.e. heavy armour acts as 3 HP, light armour acts as 1HP, whether you get hit on your armour or not, the armour points get deducted from your total before your body HP does), the only thing you need to worry about is getting used to it. I wore my new leather armour to get used to fighting in it and to wear it in, and the combat practice did exactly that. I encourage you to get used to fighting in whatever kit you plan on using for the next live combat game you’re attending.

I’m keen for another session.

So when is the next one?

are there requests for what people want to cover?

I was thinking that a little bit of formality might help the focus of the classes, maybe we can have a chat about this at the start of the next one.

As far as I know, the next one is still scheduled for the 30th of April. No one has made any plans for a sessions between now and then.

I think I picked this date because I wanted to be able to have a bit of fun as part of my birthday celebrations. Because of that I’d rather it not be so formal, though we can certainly get an idea of what people would like to go over in the session.

We can probably do at least one between now and then. Next weekend I’m in Christchurch (though you guys could still do something). The weekend after is Silver Kiss, but is probably the most logical choice of date. Would it be too much to have two Larp related things in one day? We could also do the following weekend (i.e. the one before Nick’s birthday). Or have slightly less formal (i.e. impromptu) fine weather bash-up’s? The weather was pretty good today, what are you guys doing tomorrow? :smiling_imp:

If people want to get together next weekend, then I’m suddenly free and in Wellington.

True. There’s probably a few others in this position too. Should we try book a venue? The forecast is for dry northerlies, but it’s still a week out so we probably can’t rely on that.

First see if enough other people are keen (anyone?). But I’d prefer indoors to getting cold and/or wet.

Keen, if I can get a lift to the venue (Paul?).

Keen!

Oh wait, im in ChCh :frowning:

Love to, but can’t make this one sorry guys.

That is what I meant I think we could put together an idea of what is going on.

as an aside I have no plans for the long weekend except seeing a movie tonight if they want to get together for a bash

Are people getting together? Might come 'round for a quick bash if you are.
