Kapcon 2011 - The Auckland Posse

Right, we just had 10 people from Wellington fly up for Chimera, and we are of course going to reciprocate by flying down to their big annual weekend of gaming, Kapcon. Scheduled for the weekend of 22-23 January, with a big Arabian Nights larp on the Saturday night, IdiotSavant, Scott Kelly and their self-described “shadowy cabal” of helpers are going to be cramming the weekend full with tabletop and more larping than previously.

Tigger and I are flying down Friday morning and flying home Monday night so we not only get two days of geekery, but two days of sightseeing and catching up with our Wellington buddies.

Who’s coming with?

I’d be keen and I’m pretty sure I can pester Russ into coming as well

That makes four, four Aucklanders mwahaha

Me and Hamish just booked our flights, we’re going down on the thusday and returning on the Monday (its my last weekend of annual leave so can’t push it too far) still, all confirmed, or so Air New Zealand tells me

Depending on how I go with my decorating I might have a couple of rooms available for people to crash.

I too am keen.

We’re hopefully making it too.

I’m keen to come down as well

Me, Tigger and Judit just booked booked our flights, down on Friday morning and back on Monday night.

Celebrate! My first post in the Wellington forum!

I wish to indicate my attendance. If possible.

Right. Hamish and Rachel have booked their flights. Tigger, Judit and myself have booked flights - us three are flying down at 8:30am on Friday and home again 6:30pm on Monday.

I encourage people to book now, there’s limited $50-$60 flights left.

Second post on the Wellington Forum!

And it is to say that I have flights to Wellington that weekend, so I shall most likely be at Kapcon!

Money shuffled, tickets paid for. Make that two on the same flights there and back.

Side note- do Air NZ request photo ID at all? Zane doesn’t have any.

Despite taking mine, I was never asked for it. I printed my tickets and scanned the little barcode on them at the self-checkin computers, no ID needed.

We’ll be flying back / recovering from our jaunt to Europe around then - so maybe next time - you guys make it sound like so much fun, that I’ve been hankering for it for a while now.
Side note- do Air NZ request photo ID at all? Zane doesn’t have any.
They do if you want to check in in person. If you want to go through one of the kiosks, you need to know your booking reference or have an electronic card with your name on it (credit, frequent flyer, or ATM.)

Might be worth getting a driver’s licence or 18+ card? School ID at a pinch? Passports are always useful to have as well, as a just in case thing.

RWhich means you can go with the former option. Take that printed e-ticket, and you don’t need ID.

Damn so I can’t use this as a reason why he should learn to drive… oh well… :smiling_imp:

I remember AirNZ accepting my secondary school ID last time I flew with them, if that helps anyone. (Not that I can remember exactly when this was, but it was post September 11 as I was still in intermediate school when that happened.)

See you at Kapcon.

Young? Who’s young?

Note from Alice: His passport went missing at least 5 years ago and he hasn’t had a secondary school idea for over 10 years now. Darling husband.

See you at Kapcon.
