Murphy’s law: Frank goes away for a couple of weeks, and the server falls over. Its only a minor irritant, since player registration wasn’t meant to open until after he gets back anyway.

And we will be taking pre-registrations on any other larps running during the con, in case people want to costume.

I’ll have to check with the darling husband, but if anyone can bear to be out in the Hutt (and staying with someone who will spend Friday and Saturday in a haze of “FLAIL!Al-Shir-MA!FLAIL!”) then we should be able to offer crash space for Kapcon for at least two people (we have a spare double bedroom), more for anyone willing to sleep on our (actually very comfortable) sofas.

Crash space? I require only a horizontal surface. Incline will do if you’re a follower of the Minbari ways though.

I really want to go, but it’s the weekend of The Big Day Out and have been to the last 11 (in 12 years the only year I didn’t go was the year they didn’t have one), hmmm, will see if I can afford it and about flying down sat morning

I went to Big ay Out one year and flew down to Kapcon Sat morning. Worked fine.

Yeah, and Soundgarden are rumoured to be headlining. Although, it is possible that it will be the 14th and not the 21st. For one reason or another, I haven’t been to the last three, so I’m keen to get back into the whole BDO experience…

If memory serves, it’s always the third Friday in January, may have to go visit the darling best sis who works for Air NZ :slight_smile:

Hello Aucklanders!

I just wanted to give you guys a heads up that the LARP is filling up super fast. We’ve had over 30 sign ups already, and it’s a 60 player LARP. We may be able to put in a few extra characters, but are focusing on the core 60 to start with.

So the point of all this is that if you’re coming down next year, and want to play in the LARP on Saturday night then I’d pop over to kapcon.rpg.net.nz/?q=AlShirMa have a read of our teaser info and fill in the sheet if it appeals.

I’d hate for you to have bought flights etc and miss out!

Aucklanders who are heading down: the registration for the convention proper is now open as well (the website’s been hit and miss for the last few days, so keep trying if you can’t get through) There’s only 10 spaces left in the larp so you want to get in quick if you haven’t already.

Actually now there are only 6 place. So please, please, please sign up this week if you want to be sure of a place.

We will have an overflow list in the highly likely event someone has to drop out between now and January. We are also in need of a few crew people, though I would guess if you’re coming all the way from Auckland that you’d prefer to actually play.

I’m aware there are a couple more of you fine Aucklanders who are considering coming down for Kapcon. A few reminders:

  • If you need a place to stay we can most likely find you space at a friendly Wellingtonian’s home!

  • If you want to play in Teonn: Stuck you’ll need to register your intentions ASAP. There’s limited space!

  • You’ll also want to register for Kapcon proper sooner rather than later.

I’ll likely have a van hired for the whole weekend so can help with airport drop-offs and pickups and play tour guide on Monday. Other Wellingonians with vehicles can help out as well.

If you need a place to stay and haven’t made arrangements already just get in touch with me (or any of the Wellingtonians) and we’ll be more than happy to help you out!
