KapCon 19 - January 2010

So I know it’s early and they haven’t announced the larp or the games or anything yet, but who wants to fly down again next year? I had an absolute ball this year so I’m already looking at booking tickets.

I’m intending to book the same room we had at Lodge in the City this year - the five bed one 500m from the venue, and they also have a 4 bed one. We could book both if there’s enough of us, so we can conceivably be the Auckland Nine!

Accomodation costs about $30 a night. Flights are about $100 return. The con is $20. I’m planning to go down Friday morning and leave Monday evening so I can get some touristing and socialising in too.

Who else wants to come with?

It will be great to see you guys down in Wellington, there’s a group of us working on the LARP, we’ve had about half a dozen meetings so far and are going to announce all the details soon.

In addition to the main LARP, I’m planning on running a smaller LARP in one of the ordinary sessions (maybe Sunday morning?) - most likely Nathan Hook’s 9-player B5 LARP, “Against the Night”.

If you’re in Wellington (sorry, its not apparent from your profile) then there might be an opportunity before KapCon (and if you tabletop, there certainly will be - ConFusion is now less than a month away).

I found out today that the Taupo Medieval Tournament is on this same weekend. For a few minutes I thought it was going to be hard choice until I remembered that this year, I had a terrible time at the joust and an awesome time at KapCon.

Pity, I’d have liked to go to the joust but if I have to choose, it’s going to be KapCon :smiley:

Well, after the awesomeness of Chimera and talking to some really awesome Wellingtonians, I’m definitely going to be there! I may be able to offer (free) accomodation to some people, but it will be in Lower Hutt (a ~20min train ride from Wellington itself).

Plus about the same to get a bus from the station to the venue.

Fortunately, there is a bus-stop right outside, and Wellington buses are fairly reliable.

I also might be able to provide some beds and transport to and from the con. I mean it seems not all JAFFAs are that bad :wink:

Does anyone one think there would be space for an extra body on the trip down?

I’ve been meaning to go to one of these for a while.
