So I’m going to need another 20 games to run next year - any ideas floating around? And which games would people like to see rerun?
This sounds like something I’d be interesting in running…
I’m considering re-running (probably a slightly edited version of) Scummit, the game Daniel Edman wrote and ran earlier this year (with a small amount of help from me, I suppose), if there would be anyone interested in playing it.
If I don’t write anything, I could run J. Tuomas Harviainen and Roger Gammans’ “Seige Mentality II” (a room, a bunch of people, and a plague of zombies). It would fit nicely in one of the smaller rooms.
Harviainen is the author of “A Serpent of Ash” and “Prayers on a Porcelain Altar”.
Miranda and I are considering running the surrealist fantasy game we’ll be working on, after the Cyberpunk larp is complete, at Chimera depending on the character count we decide on. It’ll be the actuality of children’s films and tv series from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. I’ll let you know after the Cyberpunk larp as to whether it’ll have appropriately small numbers for a Chimera larp.
I’ll put my hand up for running the phoenix project, a sort of government conspiracy horror game
I’ve got an idea for a horror/suspense game on the Friday night, but I don’t have it at the point of a blurb yet, I just know some elements that I want in it and have the intention of freaking people out to the best of my ability.
I’d like to see ‘Truth, Justice and Spandex!’ re-run so I can play in it. Does that help?
Asterix was mentioned in the flagship thread, not sure the originator but Ryan pointed out that it would make a better 20 person larp. I see it as live combat (of course) fitting in roughly beside the fantasy and medieval type combat larps.
It has a sprinkling of several popular larp elements, fighting, magic potions, pirates etc.
If no one else claims it, I’d be keen. Or at least keen to co-write and co-run it.
I have an idea for a couple of things, I will probably try my hand at comedy? maybe? err…
but yeah I will stick my hand up to run something

I call Impedimenta, and point out that I seem to recall one book where the women got some of the magic potion too…
Asterix, now mentioned by Walter, must happen in future, somehow. Need any help at all, I’ll gladly pitch in!
We are planning on Re-running this in 6 months or so in Auckland for some of the people who missed out. If there is still a great enough demand, this may see the light again at Chimera 2011
There’ll be a Bad Dreams, as always.
Yeah, I reckon it would work really well if the players were cast as various well-loved characters from the Gaul village off on a romp together. Getafix, Vitalstatistix… Cacofonix.

Don’t forget two of my personal favourites- Unhygienix (who wants to make a LARP-safe fish?) and Fullyautomatix (going on the weapons available at The Brawl, I’d say that would be a good role for Gaffy)
Am taking notes of this. A few female roles will need to be pushed into greater importance, there aren’t many in the books… and theres also room for Romans (Julius Caesar anyone?) and some Norse (pirates) and some hairy Germanic types. Maybe even some East meets West (unsure if the East features much in Asterix)
So anyone else want in on running Asterix? Happy to run it solo but a second GM is SOOOO helpful.
Time to go find some Asterix books…
I’d love to! Love to! But… I also really really want to play in it… argh. Been an Asterix fan since…I was able to read. 3 years old I think.
I totally want to write a game, i have a feeling it will be so much fun after the stress of a bigger larp. I’m not sure what yet, ive had a few ideas bouncing round in my head for a while, i just have to solidify them. But let us know if there are any genres that people would like to have explored/haven’t been done before.
And i would definately play in an asterix larp, i think it would really suit a twenty person game.
Truth justice and spandex better run again, i’m counting on it!
This sounds like extreme amounts of fun…
