I’m thinking you could fit Bill Compton from True Blood in there real nice, then have a Vampire story arc running again this year
As much as I like any suggestion involving Trueblood, I think the game this year is a straight western, not a pulp game like last year
(i.e. no time travellers, aliens, vampires etc)
Anna’s got it right, as much as I like True Blood, there ain’t gonna be any suckers in this western. No pulp this time.
Aww snap
Well I’m sure it will be awesomely awesome regardless - looking forward to it!
Hmm, this is sounding a little like Silverado.

Maybe required watching beforehand? I’ve got the DVD, maybe we should have a “ideas” night and screen a few westerns?

GUNS, GUNS, GUNS. Peow-Peow!!!
I have organised with an NZ importer of DENIX replica firearms a nice little deal for the society. The realy nice guys they are, If we make a single group order through them it will save them on shipping and handling and they have agree’d to either:
A) Give a discount to the order allowing the society to keep the difference to go back into LARPs.
B) Give the society some product for the gear library.
The link is here HERE. If your thinking about grabing a Denix Replica for this (or other larps), Send a PM my way and you can help out the society. You have time to think it over and save up as the order will be placed close to the date of chimera.
N.B. Offer avalible to Residents of Auckland and Those attending Chimera (or other LARP round that time) due to the fact they will be sent up here and distributed to the orderers by us.[/quote]

I don’t think its a wise idea linking that to your completly unrelated commercial enterprise. Personally thats enough for me to shop elsewhere.

How very surreal. It’s like we’re in Texas for real…

I got Tigger’s christmas present from this guy - it was easy and no hassle, I got the gun within in the week even though I was cutting it real fine for Christmas, it was well packaged and they didn’t charge extra for shipping within New Zealand. I got an email the other day saying I won a second gun in their December prize draw, and they were sending it out to me immediately. The gun that arrived was absolutely beautiful, lots of moving bits and with a real heft to it, so it’s not some shonky reproduction. Overall, I recommend these guys very highly, and will probably be purchasing more shinies from here in the future.

You’re not going to buy his stuff because he’s an evangelical Christian?
Might as well boycott America.
I’ve read instructions somewhere of how these replicas can be altered to make caps explode. Basically you fix a cap-holder under the hammer, so when the hammer strikes it detonates the cap. A lot of guns have been altered in this way to use at the larp Maelstrom in the UK.

… am I looking at the wrong page or something? 'Cause I don’t see anything that shocking or offensive.
There are a few denix replicas that although not designed to can fire caps with no modification, the ones I plan on ordering happen to be those sort…I’ll be getting them and testing them out, just in case you guys are suspect about it you can see the ones I plan to get before buying yourself. And I will probably do a 2nd order after the larp when everyone has seen all the shiny toys people have purchased.
If you’re planning to spend $100 on a toy gun, when not get ones that make some noise?

100 .22 blanks for $20

Because it’s nowhere near as pretty?
Those “loud” blanks like the ones on the site Derek linked to are incredibly loud.
I went to a play in a small theatre that involved a lot of blanks being fired… it was quite painful on the ears, made me not want to be there.

in regard to the firing of caps the percussion cap nipples on the repos need a little filing down to allows the plastic caps to fit but other wise they work fine. the mod is easy enough for flintlock pistols but replica revolvers that “use” brass cartridges will be a problem as the cylinder will need an extensive modification to make cap firing viable.
yay! I would just like to say I’m very excited. Thanks to all my lovely co-writers it will be fabulous… can’t wait till casting! having a hoot!
just thought i’d say that its coming along nicely, hopefully we will do you all proud.
I call dibs on an Annie Oakley-inspired character!!
does this mean its not going to be a free for all, first come first serve, grab whatever character you want?
i hope so.
Im going with the Quiz this time, instead of picking my own character. I enjoyed Great Ex, but there were some characters there that I know I would have LOVED to play, yet I didnt get to since I went for a name I knew…
