Fall of the Jaguar Gods

Combat Mechanics
Combat needs to involve a GM. Each character will have a number equal to their fighting ability (HP). Outcomes of combat must be decided before the resolution takes place. Possible outcomes are: death, information from the losing player’s character sheet, money, or whatever you like. There is no means to decide to kill someone after you have won the fight - it must be decided before resolution takes place.

There are two options for combat resolution.
[ul]
[li]The default option is that both parties draw from a bag of beads. They each draw as many beads as they have HP. Red beads count as wins, blue beads as losses. The player who has the most red beads, once both players have drawn, wins the fight. They should then act out what actually happened. If the stakes were high, make the fight dramatic. [/li]
[li]If both parties agree, and there is a safe place to do so, they may choose the Larp Combat option: fight it out with Larp safe weapons. Each hit takes away 1HP. The first person to reach 0HP has lost. [/li][/ul]

At 0HP*, if the stakes weren’t to the death, you should act injured, hobbling, and/or out of breath. Maybe a bit confusion/concussed. Some of this might also be appropriate if you took a lot of damage. If you die from combat, or anything else, the GMs will sort you out.

Draws are possible. If you draw then nobody lost the combat. If you chose option 1, you may choose to redraw or you can fight it out as if the combat were a draw.

  • This only really happens if players choose the second option. If you choose the first, act out the difference. If you lost by something like 4 beads, then you’d be more injured than if you only lost by 1. This is a roleplaying hint rather than a strict effect based thing.

You know them by the name on the sheet, if you want to clarify anything, then please reply to your character email (makes it easier to cross reference) with your question. Most of the time we can give a pretty solid answer.[/quote]

I’ll e-mail you tonight. As Naomi said, it might be that they’re not going to be at the game.

Jon

Because someone asked - no, HP isn’t on the character sheets we sent out. It will be on your final sheets.
