Dreams are free

I was just looking through the local rag and came across this property.

Can anyone say, lets build an awesome LARP venue here?

Ahh dreams are free.

wow

The only downside is the 2 pylons in a part of the property. Still, at $550K its not a bad bit of land. Anyways, I’ll buy a lotto ticket yeah?

Sounds good, me too

Oh wow…

Yeah thats what I thought! For those who can’t be bothered clicking the link…
(edited adding 't to can)

Oh. WANT!

Wicked.

Here’s the Google Maps link.

Its all about 45 minutes from Hamilton. A bit of a hike for the Orklanders but hey, if we had our own venue… it’d be awesome.

In my mind, some rustic cabins and facilities of a non period nature would make an awesome camp set up. Personally I’d do some riparian planting around the shore of the lakes, replanting of the steep slopes with natives, add multipurpose tracks etc.

As the add mentions, it could be a mecca for mountainbikers, climbers (the limestone of the area is awesome) plus the ability to run stock on it (stock do funny things around LARPers, for added immersion). Potential for self sufficiency economically and ecologically.

That and it would be LARP heaven.

So who’s buying a lotto ticket?

it must be possible to find 550 reinactors who can borrow $1000 to purchase a share in this…

Otherwise, dreams are free!

Twelve acres would be fantastic enough, but hectares?! Holy moly.

And a single house on a tiny property in Orkland would cost more than this one! This one would support a fricken community!

Dude, I would totally buy a lotto ticket to get in on something like this!

Though my dollar’s so weak at the moment it probably wouldn’t help much…

Not my house. I wish my house was worth $550,000.

I’ve been looking for some property. Dunno if I can get a mortgage that large.

I’d put in a grand. 549 to go…

Just out of curiosity, would it be possible to turn NZLARPs into NZLARPs Ltd, borrow the necessary money using this new company, and raise fees to pay off the debt over however many years? Plus hiring out the land for other groups to pay it off too

nzLarps is perfectly able (as a legal entity) to purchase land. Being a limited liability company wouldn’t make any difference to getting a mortgage.

However, you won’t find a bank willing to lend it half a million dollars to purchase land, because for a 25 year mortgage you’re looking $3.5K+ per month in payments.

That’s just the mortgage. Then you have rates and any improvements you want to make (you did want a building right on the land right???)

nzLarps just doesn’t have that kind of turnover. You’re looking at a $1000 profit per weekend minimum EVERY weekend for 25 years.

Okay, I’ll take a couple of shares at least. 547 to go.
