Challenge: Post your first larp photo

Okay, Anna posted a photo on facebook the other day of her first larp. So I went digging for one I knew I had around.

Here is my challenge: Don’t comment unless you’re posting the earliest photo of you larping you can find!

I believe this was taken around 1980

Well… I feel very new now.
But here’s a photo, from my first game at my first Chimera. (2009)

Photo by Judit, as always.

Edit:
Unless you count the time I went to school dressed up as Legolas, and convinced everyone to play Lord of the Rings with me.

I was crew at my first LARP back in June 2005 and this is sadly the only photo. I’m on the right.

This is my very first LARP experience where I played Danae in Mordavia.

Mordavia, either Endgame or the one before which was my first larp. Didn’t even remember this until Scott posted it on facebook.

My first game was “Mordavia: Shadow and Light” in September 2004. I was 17 and in my last year of high school:

This is not my first larp - but it is the ealiest larp I know there is a picture of me at.

My first larp at the tender age of 16.

Gosh you look like Genevieve in that photo!! Well, you know minus the ears and blood…

Not my first character, nor my first larp, there are no known photo’s existing from then, but this is the earliest pic i have from my days playing Masquerade in Hamilton (Danse Macabre, 1995 I think) when I Played my Gangrel MIA. (Alas there are none of Sinuhe.)

Hmmmm, I wonder if this counts, Civil Defense training 1996, I was 15, otherwise skip ahead 8 years to the ball at Mordavia Hollow Kingdoms(?) 2004 or 14 years to One Night In Heaven 2010

This isn’t my first larp photo - it’s from around 6 months later in 2004 when I talked my sister Cat into coming up for a weekend game.

My first larp photo is a bit … ahem, but you can have a headshot detail from it instead:

I’m not sure if there were any photos taken of my first ever larp which was King Silvermoon’s coronation that Mike ran in Western Springs back in 2004.

My first weekend larp was The Hollow Kingdom, where we had a ball. So much dancing fun.

So Tigger’s character is Jackson Pollock then?

Mere moments before I started my first larp.

Playing Anna K’s Body Guard at Reunion, Kapcon 2010.
So Tigger’s character is Jackson Pollock then?
He was a crazy guy NPC (I forget the context). He kept on running around the same building with a pack of players pelting after him. I think he made it around three times before someone worked out that they could just stay put and grab him on the way past.

Ooh, I just realised that the old Mordavia site has been archived on the NZLarps website. A totally awesome souvenir of My First Larp, courtesy of me and Kath Dewar: nzlarps.org/mordavia/news_01.htm

Aaaaand, now we know what your other first larp photo must have been of.

LOLZ. Welcome to Mordavia.

Orgiastic sex scandal? Elf-Fairy-Vampire Baby Swap Fiasco?

Man… sounds like you guys had some good times!!

I could be wrong but I think he was Mad Jack McMad. He had knowledge of cetain Dark One rituals (thats what drove him mad) that the players needed to learn.

I’ve also got a lot of old film photos I’ve never scanned so I’ll have a hunt tomorrow and see if I can find any earlier pics of people.

Spur of the moment random encounter that escalated.
Elf-Fairy-Vampire Baby Swap Fiasco?
Actually one of the main plot arcs of the game.

The conversation I had with my Mum on the Sunday evening about how my weekend went was very entertaining. :stuck_out_tongue:
