Boffo's Birthday Bash

Cyril (Boffo) Boffingham is celebrating his birthday in style. He has invited an assortment of fellow members of the Drones Club and other good eggs to help him mark the occasion. Unfortunately a few blighters and an unavoidable Aunt or two always manage to make their way onto the guest list. There’s also the small matter that Cyril needs to get married within the next 12 months in order to inherit the family fortune.

“Boffo’s Birthday Bash” is a LARP for 20 players in the style of PG Wodehouse

Where: Turnbull House, Bowen St, Wellington
When: 12th May 2012; Meet 7pm for 7:30pm start
Cost: $20 / $15 (NZLARPs members)

Contact: catnipmousegames at gmail dot com

Note: In order not to disadvantage those with limited computer access registrations will not close before 25th March. If the game is over-subscribed then places will be assigned by random ballot (with the exception of a few people who specifically requested that I run this for them). Cast lists will be posted on Diatribe and Chimera.

We are now full. However, I’m happy to take names for a waitlist (after all, May is a long time away and unforeseen events may occur).

One other male player? I am embarrassed on behalf of the Wellington male roleplaying community.

It is a pity as the male camraderie of the drones club was something I particularly enjoyed during the run at Chimera. Not something I’ve experienced in any other game to date.

I think at least some of the four uncast players are guys (I know I’m one of them!)

Still it does seem underrepresented.

I’m sure after Hydra people will look at the next thing with a bit more clarity.

I’ve also been slack about filling in the questionairre (mainly because I hate those things).

Well that’s better then. We’re slack, but not that slack.

I’m another uncast, but I did say I was happy to fill whatever last roll was left.
I have now sent in my casting questionaire.

Everyone should have received their character sheet and a player’s guide by now. If you’ve missed out, let me know.

Sheet received, rules read, would there be a problem with one supplying their own stiff drink? Should they need one or two during the evening?
Ie: If I bring a hip flask for my character, would that be ok?

No problem with that, the rules are to allow in-character drink spiking while allowing players who don’t want to drink alcohol to opt out.

Thanks for my character

One player space (female) is now available.

Is this a black tie or white tie event?

(Other players: will I look out of place wearing tails?)

Black tie would be perfect, make costuming easy for the male characters.

I was totally going to try and get tails!

Hi Nick,

LARP is not compulsory. I generally sign up for a LARP that interests me when I have the time. This LARP didn’t interest me, and I don’t have the time. Last I checked I was in charge of how I spent my time, so I’d appreciate it if you kept your opinions on what I do with it to yourself.

Thanks,

Jon

That’s a little harsh mate. He didn’t single you out, and doesnt seem to make any reference to how you spend your time.

Seems more tongue in cheek than anything else, rather than personal. Your reply however is a little. Not sure if you mean it that way brother

Clearly, the average female larper is keener than Jon about Wodehouse.

If it was tongue in cheek, I’d expected it to have a  smilie attached to it. As it is, I read it as trolling. I bit.
