I was thinking about renewel of memberships, because lots of people’s expire at the AGM, so there are quite a few people paying.

I nominate Nikki and Allen as general officers, because obviously they can’t both be gear officers.

You may very well think that, but the constitution says otherwise. In order to nominate or be nominated, you must have been a member for two months before doing so. Nominations in violation of this clause cannot legally be accepted.

If you find this rule inconvenient, then I suggest you change it through amendment at the AGM. But you cannot simply pretend it does not exist.

Edit to add: obviously you can vote if you pay at the meeting. The constitution only prescribes nominations and standing, presumably to prevent entryism.[/quote]

Well I guess that means I wont be able to stand for this year’s committee. :frowning: Therefore I am going to have to withdraw my own nomination and decline all others because they are not valid anyway.

I hate to point this out, but the membership database shows that your membership expired in July 2013, making you ineligible to nominate under the two month rule. If this is in error, please contact the national secretary and have it corrected.

Considering how many people being nominated haven’t been members for 2 months, perhaps we should postpone the Auckland AGM until after an SGM has been held to discuss this clause?

We have enough trouble getting people to stand for the committee as it is.

My suggestion before withdrawing acceptances and nominations (or pointing out that they need to be) we sort out the issue that is being discussed in the other thread (possibly at an SGM).

I just don’t want people to be discouraged from standing, it seems like the society is in need of these wonderful people.

Yup. Note that “Applied” means you’ve clicked the button, and are waiting on verification of payment from the Treasurer and National Secretary.

I whole heartedly agree.

I think its pretty obvious that we will be delaying the Auckland Regional AGM until this membership rule is sorted out at a National AGM and the changes filed at the Societies Office.
The current Auckland committee will need to dicuss this backstage, to confirm, organise another date, venue etc then provide the requisite notice as per the Constitution.

All you keen people, don’t wandering off now… :wink:

This says that my membership has expired, however my bank account says that I paid NZ Larps Membership on the 31st of May 2013.
