Auckland Regional AGM

Kia ora,

We are currently planning the Auckland Regional AGM.

We have a tentative date of September 16th (subject to securing the venue), so watch this space for confirmation.

I encourage all NZLARPS members to consider standing for one of the positions on the committee:

[ul]
[li]Regional Director[/li]
[li]Secretary[/li]
[li]Treasurer[/li]
[li]Marketing Officer[/li]
[li]Gear Officer[/li]
[li]General Officer (x2)[/li][/ul]

You can be nominated by others, and you can also self-nominate. Diatribe is an ideal place to register nominations. NB: You can stand for multiple positions if you wish (and pull out of subsequent elections once you secure a position).

I also encourage everyone to please attend the AGM - we need as many as possible to attend so we can not only ensure we are quorate, but also ensure we have a strong mandate for the incoming committee.

I am stepping down from the Auckland Regional Committee at the AGM, having completed 3 years in the role.

Thanks Mike for helping to put NZLarp onto more professional footing. We now have several systems/methodologies in place that should help to make Larps run more smoothly. With an increase in the size of Larps, and the numbers attending this has being required. We are dealing with over a hundred regular attendees and budgets of many thousands of dollars. Its a good sign that Larping in Auckland is growing, with more people discovering the fun.

I have been gear officer this year, and would prefer not to be next year, as I have taken on the role of co-treasurer for the Crucible game. I am happy to stand as general officer on the committee next year.

With over half of the committee members this year taking on new jobs IRL, it has highlighted how we would really like to have some new people with time, (like students?) to step up to the plate on the committee. It is fascinating finding out all the behind the scenes stuff that happens to make a Larp run, and is valuable experience which will look good on you CV.

I joined the committee to support and say thank you to all the GMs and game organisers that create opportunities for me to have so much fun with Larps. Remember everyone here is volunteering their own time for the greater good. I don’t claim, or plan to have any great vision for running a game of my own, but thought it only fair to give some time to help make Larps happen.

Also it has been great getting know and becoming friends with the other committee members on a social level, rather than just having our characters interacting.

If you want to know what’s involved with any particular role, then ask here, message the committee member in that role, or catch up with us in some downtime a Chimera.

Should nominations for the Auckland committee go here?

What’s involved in being a General Officer? I’ve always wondered

Kind of what Idiot said for the Wellington lot: “General Officers to handle anything else that needs to be done / contribute to committee discussion.”

Basically come to each committee meeting - once a month. Add your view of what is good sense for NZLarps to do. And help with any organising task that comes up which you have time to do. This tend not to be game specific, but more logistical in nature. And reading Diatribe regularly to vote on urgent stuff that can’t wait until the next meeting.

The days of the committee meeting is decided by the committee as to which evening of the week is convenient - it has been Wednesays last few years, but this is not set in stone.

May was well

Awesome. Thanks Mike and Hannah for the stellar work as Auckland Director and Equipment Officer.

I nominate Hannah Jackson for Auckland Director. If you want to attend the meetings as a General Officer anyway, you may as well run them right? The demands for physically getting stuff done aren’t as great as the Equipment officer role I think, and you have the organisational and leadership skills.

I nominate Allen Shaw for Auckland Equipment Officer. A bit of a surprise nomination, but you seem to have an affinity for larp kit.

Second Hannah and Allen.

I nominate James Cooper for Auckland regional treasurer.

Seconded (I was thinking about that exact nomination overnight  )

I would like to nominate myself for General Officer. I’ve thought for a while about joining the committee and I’m finally at a time in my life where I think I can. I’m really interested in what goes on behind the scenes and in a few years time I would like to run a campaign larp I think this will be valuable experience seeing what is involved (at least from an NZLARPS perspective) in running the current projects. Hopefully I can bring some different perspectives and an administrative background to the role.

Seconded

I nominate Dave Agnew as Marketing Officer.
Clare Stones for Secretary
Clare Stones for General Officer

I second the nomination of Dave Agnew as Marketing Officer.

I second Clare Stones and Prema for secretary.

I nominate myself for Gear Officer (Will be updating my lapsed NZLARPS membership next week)
I nominate myself for Gear Officer (Will be updating my lapsed NZLARPS membership next week)
Awesome.

I accept the nomination for Auckland Regional Director.

In Auckland, people can pay their membership fees in person at the AGM and still be eligible to stand and vote.
