Anybody feel the quake in Auckland tonight?

We had a good solid 2-3 seconds on shaking at work.

If you felt something then follow the link and post a report.

The bottles of mead on my dresser started clinking together and wobbling as if someone was shaking my dresser. It stopped after a few seconds and I thought it was just my imagination.

The quake would explain it.

Incidentally, I can’t get through to the geonet site. I imagine it’s got a lot of traffic right now.

its worth having a look when you can.
Also checkout the shaking maps for the earthquakes, kinda neat too.

Ok, so now we’ve had 3.
3.7 at 20:24
4.5 at 21;00
3.8 at 23:23.

All with relatively the same epicentre…

Do I hear 4?

Whoa.

No, but I felt the one down in Wellington. Just. From where I was it was arguably confusable with a strong wind gust.

If you follow Scotty’s link, there’s a link to an Earthquake Report, which Geonet likes people to fill out. And as a reward, they give you a map of all the other reports which is really pretty.

Nope.

I was at Raouls, and he got a call about it.

We didn’t feel it.

Go figure.

I was in a 4.9 in Pakistan with the epicentre almost directly underneath me. That night we had several ranging from 4 to 4.5. It was like sleeping on a boat.

HAHA! Your pitiful Auckland earthquakes are NOTHING to me! Wellington could kick Auckland’s earthquaking ass any day of the week!

That being said, why does your location say Auckland?

A little geographically confused are we?

I still can’t understand what is so good about it…

You have it over us for gale force winds and land slips as well.

Ah, so we live in much more comfortable place?
And I’ve heard there are fogs in Wellington too…
How do they live there? Walking in a fog, slipping on the land, thrown up with every earthquake… Or is it jumping up? Depends if they can catch the moment when the earthquake starts… And they probably bump into each other in the fog too…
I’ll need to talk to people who’ve been to Wellington. I was going to come there some day, but it probably need some special surviving trainings.

you forgot the infestation of politicians :stuck_out_tongue:
you forgot the infestation of politicians :stuck_out_tongue:
I hardly ever see them. It’s civil servants and policy analysts that I trip over.

The Beehive should be renamed to the Pig Pen (no offence to pigs)

Well, it’s not written on them that they are politicians, so you may bump into them on the street and even not know about it  They are all around, they surround you :smiling_imp:

What is Beehive?

It’s one of the parliament buildings. It looks sort of like a beehive.
