Zombies vs Steampunk Dance Party (in Auckland)

Hey everyone,

I just thought this might be something that Auckland LARPers might be interested in coming along to, dressed either as steampunks or zombies. It should be a really fun night. The Wellingtonian steampunk rock band “Alex The Kid” are coming to Auckland for a steampunk dance party quite unlike anything you have seen before! Zombies vs Steampunk will have Alex The Kid as the headline act, supported by steampunk and zombie styled DJs to keep the party going.

During the event, Alex The Kid will be filming the music-video for their upcoming album which features zombies and steampunk, so come along dressed either in your steampunk gear or as a zombie and be prepared for a little impromptu acting in-character as well. (I guess Michael Jackson showed us that zombies can dance, they don’t have to be all stiff-limbed and slow).

This event has not yet been finalized, and the details are being thrashed out on Facebook, as we have yet to book a venue and confirm a date, but it is expected to be sometime around the 9th or 10th of September, so please get involved and help make this event something special!

This music-video by Alex The Kid was shot during a similar dance party in Oamaru. The time-traveller who disappears at the end of this video is Agent Darling of the League of Victorian Imagineers (Oamaru), who came up to Auckland for Aether & Iron. Dave Thompson of Alex The Kid was also at Aether & Iron.

Augur.

Sounds cool. Tho you might advise them that that weekend is the opening of the RWC, so there will be significant delays with public transport, street closures, etc … Participatns will want to allow extra time for getting around and expect many venues to be filled with rugby-related activities.

This event has been confirmed! It is happening on Saturday 10th September, and will be at The Basement in Greys Ave, Auckland CBD. Come along dressed as either a zombie or a steampunk and have a blast!

Here is some important information about this event, cross-posted from the Cosplay New Zealand forums…

Hi brunetteyes, sorry for the delay, but I have the answers to your questions now, straight from the band themselves…

Just a reminder that this event is happening tomorrow night, from 9pm. Are you coming along? Will you be dressed as a zombie or steampunk?
