Zombie Slayer

Guys and Gals,
I have an idea for a campaign style Larp, which I would like some help with running.
I have written/co-written 2 other larps for chimera (Raids at dusk and Flight 665) and would really like someone to bounce Ideas off / help run when we get to the gaming side.
The idea starts off as the cliche zombie apocalypse, with 2 exceptions.

  1. the game is set in the 14th century
  2. There is an element of fantasy (magic, vampires etc) which should appeal to what I imagine most larpers enjoy.

The game is set post apocalyptic earth, in an alternative timeline to ours, just after the outbreak of the black plague.
In addition to the zombie threat, other threats, Vampires, warewolves, dragons etc, also roam the lands as their resistance to zombification (until I want to send out zombie vampires) allows them to survive the harsh wastelands, and the lack of roaming humans into the dark forests has caused them to come out to hunt.
Consequently some humans have developed skills to hunting these mythical beasts ans thus have some advantage over them.
This means a Vampire slayer might be able to single-handedly take on a group of vampires, but will be just as effective as a normal human against a warewolf etc,
And of course the excuse for the GMs to send waves of zombies at the players.

Its not the idea to develop a combat grind game, however, and quests will have various plots ranging from defeat a dragon, to escorting a lost child back to her mother, barter for enough food to get you through another week. Surviving combat might be the least of your worries.

Any help would be appreciated. And I would really like to get another GM on board, as writing a game by yourself sucks. :stuck_out_tongue:

As an experimental leveling system, everyone will be able to do pretty much everything they can from the get go (with some exceptions). The difference will be the frequency, and the power, which will be leveled up. This means you can start the game with platemail and mighty strike, but you might only get 1 per combat. eventually you can have 3 per combat. those without the skill might get 1 per day. I like the idea of getting better at things over time rather than waking up one morning and suddenly you can cast lightning bolts!

As I said there are some exceptions, but we’ll have to wait to find out!
