We’re pleased to open up the registration process for the Wild West Weekend in Awhitu!

Dates: Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th March. 2013
Number of player spots: 14
Location: Awhitu Presbyterian Camp (pym.org.nz/2010/09/awhitu-presbyterian-camp/)
Cost: $35 ($30 for NZLARPS members)
Includes: Game, lodging, scrumptious Western-inspired meal on Saturday evening, tea and coffee throughout the weekend.
You bring: Costumes, bedding, snacks/food for other meals (and whiskey, pardner!)

Casting for both games is going to be managed in a similar fashion – we’ll ask you to let us know your preferred characters, but reserve the right to cast you as someone you didn’t pick if we think you’d suit the character/have a better time playing that character.

Both games provide pretty basic character descriptions as there are a fair amount of secret information we don’t want revealed prior to the game.

13 Angry Men with Guns (Sunday morning)

Mesquite, New Mexico 1894 - a small frontier town plagued by hostile Indians, haunted canyons and trigger-happy outlaws. So why do people head to Mesquite? Gold, of course. Or at least they did before the mines dried up. Now tensions are rising and the local law has more than the usual amounts of feuds and duels at high-noon to contend with. Will you beat the odds and make a name for yourself in Mesquite? Or will you be the next addition to the Little White Chapel’s cemetery?

-The game is aimed at new and experienced roleplayers alike. Costumes are “typical” Wild West - cowboys, indians, grizzled prospectors, school marms, and so on. Weapons will be provided. This is a game where violence can break out, but is not required. Combat is swift and brutal.

  • The tone of the game is serious fun - Fistful of Dollars, El Dorado, Rio Bravo - think Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, Robert Mitchum and company. It’s not going to be Blazing Saddles, but neither is it going to be The Quick and the Dead.

Yes Jackie,

Good point. Most roles in the train will whisle one last time have a gender. However, I past LARPs I saw women playing men’s role and providing a bit of work it can work very well.

  • Because Kim Jong il recommended it before he died (he is after all the last lonsome cowboy).

Just wanting to know how this is going. I filled in the form but havent heard back. Really keen to play but I’m rostered on to work that weekend so I need to know if I’m playing soon so I can apply for leave.

Sorry for the lack of details! RL is sucking up my time and my brainspace. No excuse tho!
