Who likes Vampires?

Do you like LARPing Vampires?

  • Wow! Vampires! Yeah, that’s for me
  • I don’t care
  • I don’t like those bloody creatures

As I said in Elves thread, the pointy-eared ones could be just one of the popular options for roleplaying. Another option like that seems to be the ones with teeth. Vampires.
There are vampire characters, there are vampire larps, there are vampire many things.
I wanna know why people like roleplaying vampires (and why dislike it too). One reason is curiosity, another is my own passion for vampires, including thinking of making vampire character one day for some game.
But anyway, I think vampires deserve a separate discussion not less then elves.
So, anyone has opinion to share? Aiwe sits down on the grass and prepares her pointy ears for long listening

I said I don’t care, although I do… I liked the Mordavia vampires as characters, but I’m not a fan of the vampire larp

I only played on at the last game for the immunity to poison.

Generally the don’t make particularly good character due to the fact they are inherently evil and need the blood of the living to survive. I got around this by giving my character amnesia.

It seems like vampires are either evil or emo, or some wretched mixture of both.

Although playing a vampire character may be cool, finding reasons for any other characters (PC or NPC) to let them within staking distance of them is pushing it hugely!!

I wouldnt let some undead bloodsucker anywhere near me no matter how “reformed” it claimed it was. I’d hunt it down stake it and burn it before you could say “Holy water”. :smiling_imp:

Like elves, it depends on which vampires. I think wnyone who played the Legacy of Kain games will agree that those vampires are awesome. Also, The Count. Everyone loves The Count.

Well, I play One World By Night so my vote is obvious. There is a very wide range of character options with vampires and almost all of them are extreme in some case. You have the powerful, charismatic masters, manipulative masterminds, complete wretches. The list goes on. Hell, the magnitude of internal conflicts alone makes for fantastic plot and character development. They also have a magnificent history. There is a version of a vampire within almost every culture in the world. Some are completely different than the modern perception of the myth.

I’ve only played a vampire as crew at Mordavia when we had the Vampire ball. Along with another (more attractive) vampire, we lured a person into a back room, sapped them and drained some blood from them. We probably should have killed them, but it seemed too easy and a “sucky” way to die. :frowning:

I prefer to play goodies and I can’t ever see a vampire in that role, so I’m not likely to ever try to develop one as a character.

They scare me though as adversaries. The turning to smoke thing is just plain nasty. It is both the ultimate “get out of jail free card” and also the ultimate skill for assassination.

I wouldn’t ever want to have a vampire as an enemy that wanted to kill me. Actually, that’s an IC thing. As a player, that’d be cool!

hah that was me. I remember that it was rather funny really.

I like vampires. Spike from BuffyTVS is probably my all time favourite TV character… I’m not entirely sure I could find a convincing reason to want to play one in a LARP tho. The whole biting people and drinking blood thing, yeurgh.
If I could come up with a reason to be evil while NOT biting people (like Spike after chip) then that could be fun to play.

Were you the attractive vampire, Matt? I didn’t realise Derek went for your type.

I wish, I was the hapless victim

How can you say that?

She is responsible for such quality writing.

Without her, where would all the teen angst in the world go?
