Mike, if there is room in your car, I can be at Nikki’s on Sunday to lend a hand unloading the trailer. Hamish, if you can clear as much stuff to the side by Sunday, that’d be great.
OK, let’s start at 10am at Nikki’s and then we’ll hitch up the trailer and take it to Hamish’s, unload it, then go back for the remaining gear. Should be done in two trips.
I can take Anna and 3 others in my car to Hamish’s place.
Hamish, what’s your address ?
The shed itself may need to be transported in a cage trailer - I’m not sure the base will fit into the NZLARPS trailer (too long). In any case, to where are we taking the shed ?
Nikki, can you pm me your address? I can help on Sunday, which it sounds like is what’s happening, but I don’t know where I’m going!
As much as my mother mentioned to never give out my address over the internet I am sure you are all people of good repute
I am at 1604 Dominion Rd Extension
Its a brick house pretty much up by Hillsborough Rd.
There’s a number missing off your letterbox too if I remember rightly
can i have a hands up of those who can help dismantle the shed tomorrow, if numbers a very lowe , may look at doing this the following weekend either the 12th or 13th
Unless the weather is like it is now…
I think we only need 2-3 people - give me a call or TXT in the morning on 021 0228 3640 if you want me there.
I shudder to think of what you’d get if you asked Derek to lend a hand …
yeah im watching the weather,
I’m available from 11ish on Sat this weekend, ie tomorrow, but Sunday and following weekend I’m busy. Can bring some tool if I know what you need - hex keys, screwdrivers, claw hammer etc
will post if weather to bad here to deal with shed around 10ish (its meant to fine/ease up). any queries ring 5260039 or txt 0210640936
The shed is now in peices, ready to be moved.
thanks to Derek, Matt and Cameron for their help,
trailer is fully loaded with gear, with the rest stack in a pile waiting for the second trip
(dam we have loads of gear, tho there is a fair bit of foam bits in there))
So we still all meeting at nikki’s at 10am tomorrow?
Shed moved, Gear moved.
Mission complete !
Big thanks to everyone who helped pull down the shed yesterday and/or move the gear today.
It only took three loads to transport the gear and the dismantled shed to Hamish’s place. Thanks again, Hamish, you’ve saved our bacon !
Like Gaffy says, we have a lot of gear. I’d be surprised if we could fit it all in the shed, and still have access. There was a general consensus today that we needed to go through it all at the next Gear Day, with an eye to rationalising what we have.
@Xcerus: I understand you now have the boxes of black, white and brown robes. When you specified what weapons you needed, you said the Gaffy would know, but he wasn’t here today…so, you’ll need to organise a weapon mission to Hamish’s.
I’ll come. Someone needs to be a little more ruthless with the gear. I am that ruthless
I’ll come if I possibly can. Gear days are usually quite fun and sociable and sometimes even have pizza.
Many of the boxes we’re storing gear in are in pretty poor condition. This means a lot of the gear is getting damaged faster than it needs to.
I’d like to build some gear boxes out of plywood, that can also be used as props in games. They’re reasonably simple to make and don’t use a lot of materials:
3 sheets of 12mm plywood
2 sheet of 17mm plywood
1 box screws
12 hinges
2m x 12mm rope
We’d build:
6 wooden chests 450mm high x 1500 long x 400mm deep (able to seat three as medieval style bench seats)
Inside dimensions 400 x 400 x 1200 (able to store most of the weapons)
Medieval chests are very practical for storing stuff long term as they keep stuff off the ground. You don’t have to worry as much about damp floors. They’ll also outlast the plastic boxes by 20-30 years.
Something like this…
A good idea Derek, especially if you’re volunterring to construct them. Perhaops the spending for these materials can be approved at the December committe meeting?
You’d also want to factor in some timber stain - so that they’re not white pine, but more golden brown ‘timber’ colour IMO.
How heavy would these be? I guess from the dimensions it would be a two person lift? Once they are full, would they be a heavy load?
