Wellington - Game Idea - Exodus

Hi guys,

So here is my pitch for a game it’s called Exodus and you can download a snazzy PDF about it from here.

I’d love to get feedback from anyone, including (but not limited to) any homeless Kiwi’s working in London.

Thanks,

Bryn.

I’ll be there. When shall I book my tickets for?

That sounds like lots of fun!

Sounds good. My only advice would be to include some real guidance on what sorts of people might be found in a C14th English village, as thanks to D&D a lot of gamers have some very funny ideas…

That’s a pretty positive start, at the moment it’s only in the pitch stage, although to be fair I’ve got some pretty good ideas for the three events.

If we as a group decide we’d like to run it I’m thinking the first event will be around March/April/May fitting around what ever else is going on, part two about 6 months later and the finale another 6 months down the line wrapping the story up in a tidy 12 months.

Cheers,

Bryn.

Can I play a half orc barbarian? :stuck_out_tongue:

But sounds like a good concept

Great setting, and I like the idea of a three-event series. There’s no reason that larps have to be either one-offs or open-ended campaigns.

No but you could probably play a half wit blacksmith

Keep the feedback coming guys.

Thanks,

Bryn.

I’m so excited about this game!!!

Bryn, any idea of number of PC/Crew positions you’ll be aiming for?

If the characters are all from the same small village then family ties will probably be important. Small medieval villages probably consisted of a number of somewhat interbred families. Just pointing that out because going refugeeing with your father-in-law, your sister, and your husband/cousin is also not the “adventuring” norm either.

It might also be helpful to establish the nature of the village. Is it perhaps a remote hamlet (i.e. a village which mostly raises pigs), or a small farming town under a local lord at manor? Or maybe a seaside village with more fishermen than farmers. Knowing who owns what will effect social relations and their breakdown in the plague chaos. Even if there are no gentry about, there might perhaps be serfs who work the land.

It’ll be tailored to suit, but I’d hope for about 20ish players (who’ll split into two groups for adventuring crewing one/playing one).

Plus about half a dozen dedicated crew for some pretty involved NPC parts, and especially anyone with super make up skills (I’m looking at you Mr. Cates).

Cheers,

Bryn.

Lots of things to consider, I also thought they may be survivors from half a dozen different villages who had banded together for survival.

I’m keen to sign up as a designated full-time NPC and will help you write the game/work on the logistics if you like!

Absolutely, had my fingers crossed you’d offer.

Thanks,

Bryn.

If by simple and immersive combat you mean live combat, then this game concept ticks all my boxes.

Yep there will be live combat, which will be free of ‘calls’ to keep things ‘simple and immersive’.

The events will feature some combat but it’s not really what the games are about.

Bryn.

So easy to please :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it’s a great idea dude, and really wish I could be there to play

Just adding my vote of keeness to play this, even though interest seems to have reached critical mass already.

Critical Mass eh? Sounds good.

To be honest I didn’t even consider that people from Auckland would come down for a day and night game, perhaps if we are getting out of towners down, we could run a freeform style the following day to make it a more worthwhile trip?

Bryn.

Should be scary, because “Zombie Army” was voted first equal in the very scientific “who is the scariest monster?” quiz!
