Hopefully admin types wont mind the shameless plug, but I’m involved in an event I reckon at least some of you would enjoy the hell out of. The Wellington Cosplay Ball 2010 is set for the 24th of April.
This is essentially a costumed ball - the theme is steampunk but thats mostly for the decorations. Costumes don’t need to be steampunk themed.
For those who are unaware of cosplay: we’re the lunatics who overrun each and every Armageddon in costumes. It’s a very costume focused sub-genre of this silly game called life, with RP-ing coming second place by a loooong way. The costumes also tend to be replicas of tv/movie AND ESPECIALLY anime/manga/video games. But original designs get drooled over just as much.
The Ball is basically a big night out, in costume. Early bird tickets available now, $30. Prices will increase end of January (but probably not too much, because one of niche audiences is 17 years olds.) The venue is awesome, but I think it’s a secret, so I’m not going to tell you.
