Welcome to Chimera

Chimera is the first annual New Zealand Live Action Roleplaying Convention.

It aims to bring together larps and larpers from around to country, and to offer a line up of larps that’s both friendly to new players and exciting to experienced players. It will feature new games, as well as reruns of popular games from conventions in other centres.

The event will be held on the weekend of 22nd-24th August, at Motu Moana Scout Camp in Auckland. Spread the word!

Visit chimera.nzlarps.org for information on games, scheduling, registration, accomodation, prizes and how to submit your larp!

Oh hey, cool!

see you and raise to a “Hey Way Cool”

Did you name this after the Mayhem album?

Anna, do you just hand code your web pages or do you have a favorite tool?

I put the site together for Anna from a template. Credit is given in the source.

I wish I could code, but instead I just ask people very talented people like Ryan to do the work for me. Thanks Ryan!

yay i read about this in immersion, will def. come saturday.
why does friday and sunday only have one larp each on them? yet saturday has heaps? are there more to be announced?

How would 2014’s beloved Easy G go about booking time for a live rap set?

Depending on how things go in the 2014 plot at the moment I’m considering using Chimera to host a grand-reopening of the Hub Club, featuring Acid Mouth, Amplitude and Easy G. How would this go over?

Motu Moana have a noise limit lower than my house. I’ve successfully summoned noise control there on more than one occasion.

Just sayin’

At present, both evening slots have larps slated for them. Given this, and the noise limitations in place at Motu Moana, this might not be an appropriate venue to hold such a game.

This said, 2014 is more than welcome to apply to run a game as per the game writer’s brief on the Chimera website.

Any thoughts of having some movie/documentary screenings happening as part of Chimera? I’ve just seen the trailer for a Wow Larp documentary film called Monster Camp and there are locally made docos that might be cool to view at this event. Maybe if there is a room where a projector and screen were set up, you could have a bunch of things running at different times. Just a thought.

I saw Adam last night, and his larp documentary is almost finished. I imagine he’d be happy to screen it there - and between us it shouldn’t be hard to get a cinema set up.

If you give me Adam’s contacts, I will email him about this. I’ve been thinking about cancelling the Friday night larp in favour of a more social event anyway…

Have there been directions to Motu Moana put up here anywhere?

Handy dandy link to the Chimera site where I found a handy dandy link to this map when the same thing crossed my mind earlier today :stuck_out_tongue:
