Hey, it’s Battlecry!
David Farrier always gives the odd hobbies such nice, non-demeaning coverage.
We should put the Mordavia newsclip up on YouTube as well.
It’s up already. Just search on Mordavia.
Haha, David cracks me up even when he’s not putting on a funny accent. Erin put in an excellent performance, good show Erin. He has a real genuine interest in the stuff he covers and (more so) the people that are doing it. He’s going to do an article on Nibelungen some time in the future, probably shortly before the second event.
David does seem to love the unusual hobby reporting, it’s a bit of a theme with him. Good on him, he’s got a funny tongue-in-cheek style, and while he takes the mickey a little it’s mostly in a positive spirit. Except perhaps the article he did on tropical fish collectors… I thought he was a little rude about the shininess of the head of the dude he interviewed there.
Still, he’s showing people something they don’t usually get to see, good explorative journalism without it having to be about something topical.
The hunt for a female wargamer was pretty funny, especially when she turned out to be Erin who he’s probably seen at Mordavia. Wonder if he made the connection. Good interview, Erin.
The Mordavia article on YouTube has attracted some negative feedback, but that seems typical with larp videos. Ever since that “lightning bolt” video malarky larp has garnered a following of obnoxious commenters, funny what an impact a single bad video can have.
I thought it was funny that he was making a big thing about the difficulty in finding women when I distinctly saw several walk past in the background shots. And I’m told by someone who used to wargame intently that you’re more likely to find women entering in the painting competitions.
And hey, at least he didn’t complain that people smelled bad. That’s good, right?

Actualy alot of those other females were there for the roleplaying tournement and not the wargamming
Erin was in fact the only female wargamer there that year.
