Wanted corflute

Any one got any spare corflute or know of any going for grabs somewhere, am working on a new shield project.

I know its not quite in your price range, (ie free;) ) but I did see black corflute for sale at stationers a few months back. I think it was Warehouse Stationery, but it may have been Whitcoulls. A1 sheet, around $10 IIRC. I remember thinking it might be good for the fussy shield makers wanting a good black back.

Thanks Hannah

I’ve got some 2.4m x 1.2m sheets, ex Green Party election billboards.

How many would you like ?

really thats awesome mike, i need about three thank you

Done

When would you like to pick up ? Also, if anyone else needs some coreflute, let me know.

I’d love to get some Mike. Both me and Dave want to try and make shields for Teonn.

As it happens, I’m working 7 days at present (major deadline looming). Beccah should be home, so just rock up. Even if no-one is home, the coreflute is in the carport, just grab some sheets

26 Malvern Road, Morningside

1 and a half sheets should do for you both (assuming 3 layers per shield, and 0.6m x 1.2m being large enough for the shield you wish to make). Drop around sometime…

Just remember, kids, always breathe on the pie…I mean, always crosshatch your coreflute when making shields

Do you do 90 degrees between each layer or 30?

I do 90. Easy to cut out, but wasteful; OTOH it gives me plenty of scrap for bucklers (which I should make more of).

I do 90 as well, easier to cut and provides an acceptable improvement rigidity.

I am happy to do a shield making class in ellerslie for those who are interested. My shields tend to last a fair bit and its simple to do. I also have a couple of shields you can template from.

Let me know numbers on this and we can do it on a lazy weekend afternoon. Takes about 20 mins per shield. Easy peasy.

Can I recommend that people making shields consider painting the inside of the shield as well. It’s always a shame when we get fantastic photos that are ruined by the inside of a shield that is white corflute and duct tape.

If you can’t be bothered with that, or if you don’t have enough paint, can I suggest you at least face the writing on the old sign inwards.

 Your local neighbourhood fascist

As a note, one of the biggest importers of Corflute in the country is PSP Ltd in Albany website: psp.co.nz . When I used to work for them they regularly had faulty corflute (faulty being things like one faulty flute, or poor uv stabilty meaning it was not suitable for printing). If you ask nicely you will probably be able to pick up something cheaply.
You might also want to ask about foamboard, which gets damaged very easily.
And if you are looking at buying black corflute, it used to be about $25/sheet (1830x1220) retail, but that might have changed.

Ta, Taz. PSP are literally around the corner from where I work, so I’ll see what I can get from them.

i could go with some.
i am working on making a 90cm wide Aspis
When should i come in and pick some up/is their any left

I may have just found a supply in Auckland - Botony, in fact. But someone up there would need to colect it.

Ooh. Corflute. Nice work.
