Unity

The world is going to hell in a handbasket.

Through the grapevine, you’ve been told of a secret project that may help with things. Or maybe you’ve been approached by some one from something called Project Unity.

You will be needed for only a weekend. You will be paid, and you will be helping future generations of people. Low risk, and great future prospects.

Absolutly Top Secret.

More details will forthcomming at a later date.

Do characters come from the normal modern world, or somewhere else?

A quote from Chapter Two of the Project Unity Hand book.

They come from this one, witha slightly alternate, darker present.

Rules

Mostly a rules-less Larp.
The first playes will be able to play themselves, or a version of themselves with a different name.
As (or rather If) Unity progresses, then the rule set will be developed and made to come in.
For the first game, every skill a player has, their PC knows too.
If they know French, their PC knows French too.
There will be no “My character is a world class computer hacker, so I know electronics, and want to build a laser-phaser-banana-baser-gun using this candle, these used cotton buds, and an empty coffee container.” If they can in real life, go for it. If they can’t in real life, sucks to be you.

All PC’s will be given a character sheet to fill in, which will have their details on. This will form the basis of their character when rules are eventually developed. It will also give info to the organisers like “Vegetarian, asthmatic, allergies” etc.

This is right up my alley. Where’s Derek? He was championing games with this kind of approach a while back but I don’t think we’ve had a really good example of one in Auckland yet.

I am SO totally in.

Cool! I’m for someone with an ego like mine, that feels like I’ve been given extra character points

Why only the first game? Okay, I don’t expect an answer, that’s probably needs to give away plot and stuff. Please don’t do experience points.

You could maintain manilla files on players in a filing cabinet and have it in game. Make people give you their CVs and stuff

Cool. Can people just have one hit point as well? I don’t know anybody who can be shot or hit with an axe more than about once.

This most definately sounds like awesomeness.

Tkae this as my vote of interest.
I like the idea of a character havingmy skills. But some of hem I cant use, i will get in trouble with certain clandestine organisations. But still, that gives me a shite load of skills to play with. Like laze about in an idol fashion, and eat more than my own body weight in rice crackers. And behave in a grumpy manner in the morning.
I like it.

But seriously, this sounds like a very interesting idea, and i am most definatly in. I shall have to come up with a name, Byron Tallywhacker spirings to mind.

It sounds interesting.

I’m not sure how translating myself into a game character would work… most of my talents are the in-door quiet kind.

I’m keen.

Thats fine. I think the idea of this LARP is that your not a world saving hero character, you just end up saving the world anyway.

Well, French is an indoors quiet type thing, when reading the instructions on how to dismantal an Atomic Kurnal Device (AKA Nuke).

Don’t diss you’re knowledge on a “Can’t see how it applies to a character” basis. Just think of all you know. You know more than you think. Everybody does. This is just an exercise in getting you to have a look at yourself in an unfamiliar situation, and learning something new.

Don’t know if I can make it to the game yet, but if I can, I shall be sure to bring my l33t proof-reading skills to the task!

Truly, the mystery around this game is fascinating.
