Travel Distance and Decent Venues

How willing are you to travel an hour or two to a decent LARP venue?

  • I’m there!
  • Yea, I would if I had to.
  • If someone else was driving, sure.
  • I’d rather be closer to home.
  • No thanks, that’s too far.

Since getting exclusive hire of Brookfield would cost me something in the vicinity of an unrealistic $4,000;

Said venues in that vicinity are cheaper (thus lower attendance costs) and generally have more interesting and bigger venues. To clarify; this would be for a weekend session of a campaign game.

Complete book out is nice but is it mandatory? I mean if nothing else is on that weekend then you get it for less anyway

Yes, it’s nice, and no, it’s not mandatory, but I’ve been informed by the person who handles booking at the camp that the only weekends when they don’t have people (i.e. normals) camping on the grounds as well as people in the bunks is in the heart of winter. For obvious reasons I’d rather avoid having to run a game in the freezing winds and heavy rain.

have you tried camp wanui it’s a smaller camp but much cheaper and not very far from brookfields

That is indeed the one we’re currently looking into, fingers crossed.
