Top Hat for sale (for the Great Exhibition)

I have a top hat for sale that I bought on Trademe. It’s a little bit too big for me, so I bought a vastly more expensive one :smiley:

Looks like this:

I bought it for $35.00 + $7.50 postage (total $42.50)

But I will sell it for $30 to the first person who says they want it in this thread. I’d prefer if we could settle up with an online payment before Chimera, but if you promise not to back out I’ll take cash at Chimera.

I was going to post it back to the seller (who agreed to accept it back) but it seemed a shame towaste all that money on postage, especially as some other person may want one.

Snap! We also purchased a top-hat over trademe (size 59cm; auction here) which was a bit too small. It set us back $30, plus $8 postage.

They look quite similar, but if they’re different, maybe we could do a trade. Alternatively, if anyone else is interested…

(Of course, then I’d need to find a way to get it to Auckland intact…)

It sounds like we bought the same hats. As mine was too big and yours too small and they both have a hat band of 59cm, I’m picking you have a very big head. :smiley:

These would probably fit me… my head appears to be 58cm diameter. I was hoping to buy a cheapie or maybe hire one though. Hire it off you for $10 Derek? :wink:

(oh my god, trying to do costume for three games on one day… I hate to think what everyone who is going to all 6 games is going through)

I just figured someone may be wanting to purchase one.

I checked out wedding rental top hats and they’re $40.00+ for a top hat by itself.

A curious thing happened yesterday. I was in at Geoff’s and asked about top hats, they’d sold out (apparently when they had them, they were about $5). I went round the back to a dollar shop and asked, they didn’t have any either. But this other customer overheard me, and said he had a top hat he’d bought in Geoff’s for a few dollars. He’d worn it to a party and didn’t need it anymore, so he got it from his car and gave it to me. Horray for the generosity of strangers! My next option was a $30 top hat from First Scene, instead I got one free.
