Right, I’m starting the topic up now, but considering that I pretty much want to thank everybody individually, it may be some time before I collect my thoughts properly. Start in my absence. Let the squeeing begin!
This one time, at refugee camp, I got kidnapped by cyber-zombies and dragged to a lab.
This one time, at the refugee camp, i found out I had living family before Ivy shot off her face
Since everyone else is doing this: (this is posted on Facebook too where I could tag specific people)
Highlights for me would have definitely been (in no particular order):
- the ball
- tussling with Leo as a cyborg
- the fight between Pirate Morgan and Leo in which Margaret was held at sword point and nearly had her throat slit…
- the wedding
- Edwina’s short appearance
Also being zombies and demons and forest folk and military whatnot was incredibly fun, if not a little soggy due to the rain at times and the makeup was sometimes hard to get off.
I feel like I should make shoutouts? Thank you so much to everyone for making my first larp so effin’ epically fun but particularly Nick Cole as Leo, Hannah as Moss, Bryn, Russ for both the Zec-ness and the dance teachings along with Teresa, Ants for the partner in crime-ness, Steph for the Margaret-Esther and Genevieve-Esther interactions…
And last but certainly not least, Nick (GM Nick), Mel, and Thom for allowing me to crew and help out where I could <3
A highlight was definitely the huge zombie brawl in the Hall. That was so intense!
This one time at the refugee camp everyone turned on me and started calling me ‘cultist scum’ just because I was trying to help the people who actually know what they’re doing make a difference in the world.
That was great playing opposite Genevieve - for the rest of the night I was really suspicious of you, Amanda, because you’d heard of Zek, and I kept repeating “Nobody has heard of me!”
I remember the last ten minutes of my game being utterly pitch perfect, and it really felt like thematically the game ended well. As for specific moments, I think charging off-road with Lily when we were keeping an eye on Amadeus was a great bit of spontaneous immersiveness: we wanted to get as close as possible, so we dashed through the woods and even jumped a few rivers to get right up behind the zeppelin tower. So much fun.
This one time, at the refugee camp, I forgot what a peppermint cat was.
Luckily, Moss reminded me.
This one time, at the refugee camp, I (a Lady and of obvious authority in these matters) told Leif the gypsy that dirty air quotes are what one does when one meets the Queen.
This one time, at the refugee camp, I hid in a ditch until the fighting moved away and then dragged a survivor to safety.
This one time, I came to a refugee camp, a lot of people disliked or were afraid of me but they helped me when I needed it.
This one time, at the refugee camp I invented an instant anti-addictive drug about 50 years before someone even thought about the possibility…
This one time at refugee camp I convinced Amadeus to join me in bowing before the queen. We bowed so low we practically kissed the ground. I think the queen may have been a little embarrassed.
This one time, at refugee camp, our gala ball was attacked by zombies, and some sort of gas attack set me and Leo against each other like rabid animals. I swear to god the Captain actually snarled like a mountain lion.
This one time, at refugee camp: we started singing the Misty Mountains song exactly like it was in The Hobbit during the quiet part after the massive zombie attack in the hall
Oh, I had to say an extra congratulations to all the first-time LARPers out there this time around: you were all stellar. I didn’t interact with you all, but even seeing characters like Luka bolting around in the background was great, and Loki mastering his martial arts in the field outside the taverna.
Two mentions for the first-time players that I interacted with on a reasonably regular basis: Courtney, for an excellently ethereal medic, and whoever was playing Doctor Harrowthorn (Probably got the last name wrong, but was the player Oliver?). Every time I went out on a super-secret mission, there was the good doctor next to me with his sword. I wish I had interacted more in character with you both, rather than just occasionally ducking in to say hello.
It wasn’t until later on that I realised that Leo’s surgery was pretty much performed by first-time 33AR players (although I think Cailin might have been in there saving the Captain as well, Daena?), so well done to the lot of you. What they say about messing your lines up on stage is the same as with first-time LARPers: the audience really can’t tell.
Safety tip: When we’re hit with fear gas, don’t get between Leo and Moss.
This one time, at the refugee camp I realised that I’d had an affair with the same woman who my brother had been in love with. Oh and she was a racist.
This one time at the refugee camp a gypsy yelled at me.
What do you mean one time?
